How to Use Failure as a Lever for Success – Personal Development

How to Use Failure as a Lever for Success – Personal Development

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

Have you ever thought about failure from a different standpoint? Because the thing is: you will fail. But, it’s not that big of a deal.

I had a very interesting conversation this weekend with someone I’m working with. Their problem is having undesired outcomes. Big problem.

We were talking about it and I’m like…”It’s okay to fail.”

They said…”No, it’s not. Not in my family.”

Ah….here comes the tribalism. Here come the issues. Here comes the family tree crashing into the middle of your success.

This is why you’re going to fail. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s part of the grand design. I want you to think about something. Everyone that hears this video has failed on a massive level in their life and didn’t think two shit about it.

Then they’re saying…”Hold on Glendon. No. If I had failed in my life, I would know it.”

You have failed massively in your life. Each and every one of you out there has failed over and over and over again. That’s right.

When you were learning to walk, you failed over and over again. Then one day, those little legs got a little more sure.

What is the difference between failing at that point and failing now? You’ve learned shame. You’ve learned embarrassment. You’ve learned hurt feelings. The failing process hasn’t changed. How you relate to the failing process has changed. That’s the problem.

Right now, my shit is raggedy intentionally. I’m putting out all kinds of stuff. Pushing the envelope. Pushing the comfort zone. {‘m just going for it because I learned from doing 30 Days to $2500 that there’s a great deal of growth in failures.

Now, let’s go back to when you were failing massively as a human being. From when you were an infant until you were 16 years old, an incredible amount of physical and mental growth occurs.

When you’re young, everything is brand new. When you’re young, everything is a challenge. Growth. Growth. Growth. If you weren’t failing, you wouldn’t grow.

Think about that. You can’t grow without failure. It’s impossible.

There are many people who refuse to accept that the path to success is not sexy.

When a diamond is made, it’s under 1000 pounds of rock. It’s dark. It’s cold. That’s when it happens. That’s where that diamond is formed under the harshest conditions. It’s not sexy. It’s not pretty. A diamond in its natural state is actually quite ugly.

Part of failure is taking some chances. One of the reasons you can’t win is because you’re looking for massive change in a minimal amount of time.

Let’s take something that works really fast that requires massive effort, P90X. The guy put it out there years ago and showed people getting results. It works. It’s also very quick, when you think about it.

For three months, you work your ass off and you’re eating right. So, there’s a massive amount of effort that goes into the thing. It works, but it takes an enormous amount of effort.

When I started this YouTube channel, I was trying everything. When you’re doing something new and you’re hungry, you try everything. I tried to get this person to help me with the video channel. What I was going to do was a series of interviews. People wanted to know, how many people are going to see this. People were like…” I’m scared. I don’t want to look bad. I don’t trust you.”

The answers were…No. No. No. I spent weeks trying to get people to help me.

If I can give you any piece of advice, it’s just…keep moving. Keep hustling. Keep pushing. If you keep failing, you’re going to learn how to cope with failure. You’re going to learn how to get up very quickly. If you don’t give up, it’s going to work out for you.

By having your goals, by having your dream, by having your vision – you will shame people by your success and you will never do an ugly or mean thing to them.

This is the thing. There is no such thing as absolute failure until you die. There are guys in prison who killed people who got out of prison in a matter of years and met someone and started a family.

So, if you don’t stop, at some point, it will work out in ways that will blow your mind.

I’ve had more apologies this year than I’ve had in all my fucking life. There’s some shit that went down in my family and other stuff. I said my piece and I walked away. I’ve learned to keep moving, staying busy, having goals, and not allowing those trials and tribulations in life to make me stagnant. When you’re stagnant, you stop moving and stop trying. You just sit back and let life fuck you.

There’s no such thing as an absolute failure if you don’t stop. The only thing that is absolute failure is terminal illness and death. I’ve seen many people live better with terminal illness than folks who were healthy.

Living is not breathing. Living is trying and doing it moving forward. Just getting up every morning is not living.

Failure and pain push you to do something. Success can put your ass to sleep. Pain keeps you sharp. It makes you move forward.

If you spend more time talking about your problem then working on your problem, then you are the problem in spades. It’s never going to get any better until you admit you are the problem and put your big boy or big girl pants on. You have to step up in life and say yes, I’m going to try again.

Like I said, a lot of shit has gone down in the last few years. I’ve had a lot of people step up and say…”the way I treated you was fucked up. I was wrong and I’m sorry.”

I respect the hell out of it because so far everybody has been sincere.

When you fail and you analyze why you failed you ask yourself questions. When you start saying, I fucked up and the reason I fucked up is reason X and Reason Y, then you are no longer a victim. You become your own personal hero.

You have to get past things you did wrong.

When you are trying to be successful, you have to monitor your energy and accept life the way it is and not the way you want it to be.

If you keep trying, you will win someday.

One Major Piece of Business Advice – The Price of Success Is How You Start a Business

One Major Piece of Business Advice – The Price of Success Is How You Start a Business

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

What is the price of success? I’m here to tell you the price of success is failure. Snafus, hiccups, problems, rocks in the road.

There’s so many things that people don’t really want to talk about that are the price of success.

This is the thing about making the decision to do something. When you make a decision to do something, you activate different areas of your brain. Stuff just percolates.

I sat down and I was putting up my ads. I said, Big ass coffee table because that is what it was. It was huge. In 30 minutes, I got an email. In one hour, it was sold. Then I put up the ad, your grandmother’s pedestal table and this big ass canoe. All that stuff sold in one day.

I did back down on the price, but I realized it wasn’t the price. I actually sold that stuff for more than I originally listed it. It had been up a few times.

So essentially, the price of success is failure and learning from that failure. You have to keep pushing when life is throwing shit your way.

I want you to think about life as this kid on the wall. You’re trying to crawl up the wall and life is throwing eggs at you, rocks at you. It’s throwing all kind of shit at you. Now, there’s two things you can do. You can say, fuck this, I’m not going up that wall. Or you can say, fuck this, I’m going to make it.

If you look at Shawshank Redemption where the dude crawled through the pipe for freedom, he had to crawl through this shit; feces, piss, rats and who knows what else to become free.

If you’re looking for an easy path, that does seem to be the thing that throws people. Folks are looking for a cookie cutter solution to unique success which is just dumb as fuck.

You’re not going to do cookie cutter solutions and get some unique yield out of the process.

Let’s take yesterday. Something happened with an email going out with the YouTube training. No one signed up. That was around 12:30. I said, I am going to do the presentation and record it, then upload it to Gumroad, so they’ll actually get it earlier. That didn’t work out because the power went out in my office.

So, the video is uploading, right? I’m in the gym and I’m on my phone trying to release it. I was thinking…I know I set that up before I left. And I came back home and the power is off in my office. The lights are on everywhere else in the house. So, I do what I have to do to get the power back on in the office and send it out. This is the price of success.

There are many people who, when I talk to them about what I went through in the beginning, they’re like…” Fuck it!” They’re like…”Who’s got time for that?” My answer is, you do. You have time for it. Everyone has time for it. The question is, do you want to deal with it?

If you’re going to do anything live, like webinars or podcasts, things can happen. You’ve got to have a backup plan.

When something happens, I don’t even go to webinar recording software because most of the time it works. But if you’re doing something really good, it screws up and you’re pissed off because you can’t  recapture that moment. I use Screen Flow and it solves that problem.

The price of success is figuring out how to be successful when life is throwing eggs at you. Life is not going to stop doing that. Some of the best opportunities in the world are covered in mud. They’re covered in junk. But because we are expecting the road to be easy and you don’t want to pay the price of success, you start saying things like…”It wasn’t meant to be”… or “God didn’t want me to have that.”

Once of the prices of success is getting over yourself and dealing with the world the way it is instead of the way you think it should be

Many people get caught up in the idea of fairness. “Oh God. It’s just not fair.” I will agree with you. Fairness has nothing to do with it. If you’re stuck on fair, you are in a world of trouble. You have a lot of problems and life is going to be very unkind to you. Fairness is for suckers.

Let’s take what’s going on with minimum wage. You hear this all the time. “Companies should pay a living wage.” Let me break down how you are paid. You are paid based on how easy it is to replace you.

If it takes a lot to replace you, you make a lot. If it doesn’t take much to replace you, someone who moves rocks from point A to point B, you’re minimum wage.

You should make yourself very hard to replace.

The quickest path to robust income is to start your own business. We’re talking about years for most people. Some people may do it in months, but for most of us, it will take years.

Say your business doesn’t last forever. That’s a very real possibility. But because you are at a high-income level, if you pull that off for five years, you are out of the game. You can’t get out of the game with a job that quickly.

When you are playing the rat race game, that’s a depressing game. Because, even if you know the rules, you still don’t control the board.

When I was in the military, there was this officer who was completely inappropriate with me. I just had to suck it up because of his position. He was an asshole, but I had to deal with it. I remember saying to myself…I can’t go through life dealing with this shit.

When you think about what you have to do, what you have to deal with to keep your job, it’s sometimes not really cool. That is the design of the rat race.

So, to be really successful, are you going to pick up that rock in the road? Are you going to cut down the bushes on that path? The best path is one you blaze on your own.

One of the reasons you have to get started is because, you’ll get data. If you are hypothesizing, you won’t get data so you can make better decisions.

You can’t live the dream and chase the dream. If you do, you create a situation where you are doing triple the work.

Are you willing to look bad, make mistakes and lose your freaking mind temporarily in order to be successful?

Gain control of your time. Once you gain control of your time, you are 50 to 60% retired.

Ask yourself. Are you willing to pay the price? Are you willing to put up with the bullshit? That’s life.

The Common-Sense Trap – How to Avoid It – Hustler’s Mindset

The Common-Sense Trap – How to Avoid It – Hustler’s Mindset

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

You hear the phrase all the time. “It’s just common sense.” Don’t fall into the…”It’s just common sense trap.” There are many people who will take some information, and really won’t do anything with it because it is simple and easy to digest.

There’s another saying about common sense not being all that common. That’s not the problem. The problem is, it takes an uncommon level of discipline and dedication and strategy to do things that are common sense.

I’ll give you an example. We all know that we should save money. We know this. But based on the statistics and the economy, we know that people don’t save money. Why? It takes a lot of discipline. You are better off having a tremendous amount of discipline and below average to average intelligence than being super intelligent with no discipline.

I mean, I want you to look at your family tree. There are people who may not be super ambitious. They may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but they have a home that’s paid off. They have a pension. They grew up in the era when working hard worked. They also learned how to save.

It is not uncommon to come across an elderly person who’s got 20K, 30K, 40K, 50K, or even 100K cash somewhere. Not in their 401K. Not in an investment. I’m talking about actual cash money. Whether the dollar is strong or not, you can go to the bank and pull that money out and spend it to buy stuff. If you have stock or some other investment, you have to liquidate it and this is not immediate cash.

What people need to really figure out is what they want based on their wants and needs and desires instead of what someone else wants for them or what society says they should have. That’s the problem.

Say you are in a bad place based on some bad decisions you made earlier in life. The common-sense trap would have you feeling all types of shame. It will have you feeling crazy. It will have you feeling like a loser or like you are just totally washed out.

Because you did not subscribe to a certain paradigm that was defined for you, you can end up with a lot of pain, guilt and angst over some things you did not really understand. I went through that during my scrub days because I thought…”I’m a certain age, I should be here.” “I’m a certain age so I should have this.” These feelings were all based on parameters that were set up for me.

People say…”You need to be here, or you need to be there, and if you don’t do it, you’re not really a good person. You’re pretty much just floundering through life.”

I felt that way for a while because of the common-sense trap.

I ask myself. Why should I be in school? Why should I go back to school, get a degree in something I’m not really interested in to work for people I don’t like to do something I don’t want to do.

Let’s reframe it. You have to figure out what your wants and desires are before you can act on them. If they don’t fit in to society’s expectations, you’re going to catch a lot of flak.

The flip side of this is if you’re extremely successful, you’re a rebel. Society admires a rebel. You become a folk hero because you bucked the grain and won. But, if you buck the grain and don’t win, then, you’re a loser. It’s a very, very slippery slope.

Part of that is about discipline. How do you develop an uncommon level of discipline? You start small. One of the smallest places you can start is by being consistent with yourself.

How many things have you started but you haven’t finished? When you really think about it, it can be really surprising. For example, when you tell someone you’re going to call them back and you don’t, you are being inconsistent. These inconsistencies create a huge problem.

You will notice a huge change in your life if you start keeping all of your commitments. Learn to say “No.”  If you know you can’t do it or you know you don’t want to do it, then don’t do it and move on. I know it sounds really, really simple, but it looms large in the scheme of things.

Start off your day by saying to yourself that you are not going to make promises you can’t keep.

People have asked me how I mad over 500 videos. I made it happen, because I chose to. I don’t watch a lot of TV. When you take TV out of life, you seriously reduce the amount of time you are just sitting there not doing anything. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish.

I had a mentor named Carl that I worked with in the lab. If Carl said he was going to do something in 30 minutes, he did it. I used to watch Carl. As soon as something came in, BAM, he was on it. He never got behind because he did the right thing in the beginning.

You have to practice this.

By creating rituals, it presets your day. Script your day. It’s all about consistency.

When I wrote my first book, I worked on it every day for three months. All day. I know this is kind of fanatical, but if you’re not married and don’t have kids, you can do it. Do whatever you can to get as much done in a few months or a few years. By applying that type of focus, you develop a lot of skill sets you can apply to something else. So, even if you fail, you win, which is really awesome.

Dealing with this stuff and being more consistent is just practice and habits.

Now, like I was saying, when I started with the book it was crazy. The first day, I remember sitting there and staring at the blank screen. I typed maybe three sentences. I’m just stuck. The next day, I type six sentences. I’m stuck. Most of the book was written over the last months because I’d never done this before. By sitting there, practicing, practicing, practicing, I was able to do it.

How does that help you? If you start practicing whatever, you can do it. Take little small steps and do it daily. How do you prompt yourself? You have a calendar, a mobile phone. You make appointments with yourself. You have to make it a priority. You have to protect the time.

Taking action is so huge. It should be common sense, but it’s not. It’s very uncommon for people to take action with their dreams and desires.

By working on being consistent in little things, it helps with the big things.

You have an assignment. Say to yourself that you will be consistent. Pick one task you suck at and work on being consistent with that. If it is a big task, break it into little pieces.

Work on it until you work it out.

How to Start a Business: Advice – When Should You Give Up on Your Dream

How to Start a Business: Advice – When Should You Give Up on Your Dream

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

When should you give up? Sometimes you have to asked yourself, is it worth it?

For the purpose of this conversation, we are going to have to learn to ask better questions. How long should I do this? Should I do it three months or six months? Should I do it a year?

The real issue is: you didn’t ask yourself the right questions. Does this business align with my personal philosophy and with my personal goals? Because, if it doesn’t, you shouldn’t be doing it.

Have you defined your life? Have you defined your success, or have you let people do it for you?

People talk smack. It’s like when people say to me…”You talk about money, but you don’t own a home.” I did the math. A house for the last six or seven years really wasn’t an asset, unless you’re going to buy it and hold it forever. Once it’s paid off and it becomes a source of revenue, only at that point does it become an asset. Once again, my personal philosophy and goals are about content creation.

So, one of the things I did is eliminate distractions. I’m a renter. Yes, I rent an apartment, because I don’t want to worry about shit. I don’t have to cut the grass. When something happens, I pick up the phone and call someone. That suits my lifestyle and the things I want to do.

I am creating assets. The book that I wrote in 2009, How to Make Money from Storage Unit Auctions, paid me income for years. Does your house pay you income? Even if you have a renter in there, does it pay you income? Chances are the answer is, no.

I mean it’s not even paying you the money I make on YouTube every month.

It goes back to my question. Have you defined your success? What’s success to me may be poverty to you. What’s success to me may not be success to you, because it’s your success.

What do you want to do with your life? What is your life plan? Where are you going with this thing? What are your core philosophies? What do you want to leave your kids?

Ask yourself these questions. Have you put that out to the universe?

You are by default, “Get Money Hustlers.” You think…I have to live. I have to get money. It’s not a bad place to be, but a terrible place to stay. You want to become a strategic hustler.

Like you, I was a “Get Money Hustler.” I had to get money. I had to pay bills. I had to do what I had to do. If you stay in a “Get Money Hustler” posture for life, the minute that your hustle skills degrade, and they will; or the minute the market changes, and it will; you are in trouble. So, you need to build some assets. These are things that are worth money or that produce money. This is what I am focusing on doing.

My definition of success is creating assets.

If you don’t define your success, then you don’t know when you should give up, because you don’t know what you are fighting for.

There are many of you out there doing shit, just to do that shit and wondering why it is not working out.

Once you develop a personal philosophy, once you develop some concrete life goals that you want to achieve based in reality, you are going to have so much information about what you should do and not do. You will know what you should engage in and not engage in.

I made this joke that I am going to get into the weed business when it comes to Georgia. The southern states will be the last hold outs. You can believe that.

In my heart of hearts, I knew I’m not going to do it, because I don’t believe in drug consumption. I’ve never been high. I’ve never been drunk. I just don’t believe in it. I’m not going to profit from it, as lucrative as its going to be.

I’m going to work on something else because it doesn’t work with my philosophy. I do believe drugs are harmful. That is my belief.

Once you hammer down who you are and where you want to be, you can make a better decision about when you should give it up.

This YouTube channel was set up to sell my products. That’s the reason for its existence. The purpose of this channel has changed. But, the core mission is the same, freedom of one Glendon Cameron, has not. That’s the core mission. Financial freedom is my core mission.

So, as long as this channel continues to do that or help achieve that aim, whatever it does, it is still on point.

There are many people who have asked me, “Since you were such a resale God, why did you give it up?”

I gave it up because it did not suit my core mission, which changed when I became a writer.

Many people won’t change because they are gutless and don’t know how to do anything else. More importantly, you don’t want to go through the embarrassment of not knowing how to do stuff.

My first few years as a writer were rocky. Lots of mistakes were made. But I embraced the change and kept moving. I had a lot to learn.

I made the change because this business model has less stress. Also, I have never had this much control of my time.

When you have control of your time, you have the most important resource to become wealthy. I didn’t have that in the storage auction business. I didn’t set the auction schedules. The facilities did. I didn’t set the auction days, the storage facilities did. There were many things I had no control over in that business.

Now I don’t have to deal with those constraints because I have 100% control over my time. I can use that to create more freedom.

So, when you are asking yourself when should I give up, the better questions is to ask yourself, is this a business I need to be in? Is this business a proper vehicle to get me to my goals? Those are the important questions.

This channel has changed direction several times, but the core mission has never changed. That is always a constant. That’s carved in stone.

Once you get your core mission together, then you can build a business around it. Do I like everything about the writing and internet marketing lifestyle? There’s a bunch of stuff I don’t like. But I like 90% of it, so I’m in it to win it and you’ve got to get there.

Let’s talk about some critical things. When you start a new business, expect to work very hard for very little. Expect to be compensated for your massive effort much later on. That’s what makes people asked the question, when should I give up.

It’s not really about giving up. It’s about fulfilling the mission.  The mission is the most important thing, not how you get to the mission.

If You Think Like This You Will Never Make Money – The Danger of Anchor Thoughts

If You Think Like This You Will Never Make Money – The Danger of Anchor Thoughts

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

Happy Easter. Today we are going to start a social experiment.  The social experiment is called anchor thoughts. So, we will call him numb nuts for the purpose of the social experiment. What is an anchor thought? A thought you have in your heart and think to be true, regardless of evidence that it is false. I am scrolling down through these comments from these comments from one individual who seems to have a hard on for me.

For those of you who want Cold Calling that Makes Money, the special is under the video. Grab it during the livestream. It’s $99.99.

I owned a store in Stone Mountain, Georgia. We moved out of the store. Stone Mountain, Georgia is one of those little hick towns that will give you a ticket for parking on the wrong side of the street or if your car is facing the wrong way.

Well, we moved out of the store and the fucked-up code enforcement agent left a notice to renew our business license. We’d been out of the store space for two years. So, I get arrested and spend two nights in jail. Every week, a non-performing, unsuccessful person finds my mugshot online. He goes online and says…”Hey go look at his mugshot online.” He gives you no context. That’s what the weak-minded people do because they can’t understand the genius of Glendon Cameron. So, he thinks I must be ripping people off. He says…”See, he’s got a mugshot.” People ask, “What did he do? The answer is.. “I don’t know.”  They asked, “Is he a felon?” “I don’t know.”

I am saving all of these comments for posterity. This is proof positive of anchor thoughts.

When supporters of mine started responding to the guy, numb nuts accused me of making up fake accounts to respond to his remarks. Why would anyone go out and create dozens of fake YouTube accounts to respond to numb nuts? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

But this is the power of anchor thoughts. Once you get this thought in your head, I don’t care how much truth comes your way, you just can’t let it go.

When I saw numb nuts doing this, I sent out an email to the list. So, this is positive proof, these are not fake accounts. These are real people. But because he had this anchor thought, he believed all of these people were fake.

He acted on this thought with vigor. He responded to people. He insulted people.

There was an article about Trump people that talked about the same thing with these anchor thoughts.  It did not matter if the thoughts were untrue. The only thing they wanted to see was that people agreed with them. And if you didn’t agree with them, you were fake.

Here’s my driver’s license. That’s my concealed carry permit. You can’t be a felon and have a concealed carry permit. You can’t have lengthy prison records or incidents of violence and have a concealed carry permit.

I believe in the abundance mindset. I believe there is enough money to go around. You don’t see me hating on people’s videos. If I don’t like it, I don’t watch it. It’s that simple.

Trolls think their viewpoint is the truth. On new videos, I’m going to start replying to comments. This normally brings the trolls out.

Question: Is there any value on a Shopify platform?

Answer: Yes. Shopify is a resource and a tool. What you do with it is on you.

Question: How would you suggest getting a sponsor on Instagram?

Answer: To get a sponsor, you’ve got to have some serious followers. The days of getting a sponsor with 1000 followers is over.

Some people have extreme anchor thoughts. Some people call them limiting thoughts. You screw yourself when you question everything. When anchor thoughts are so strong, it will provoke you to do crazy things.

There is one thing I have learned as a course creator and a trainer.

Everybody is not a teacher. That’s part of it. The second thing is, everybody doesn’t learn the same way. The new build out of the Cold Calling That Makes Money cours , I’m doing it differently. There’s going to be the main video for you to watch. There’s going to be an exercise, then a live stream. Plus, there’s going to be write-ups. Because some people are auditory learners and there are people who can read a book and learn. We all have different gifts.

Talk to anyone with kids. There are a lot of learning problems.

Only nine percent of commerce is online. What does that mean when I say that? You can go out here in the physical world, start a business and make money faster than you can online.

Let’s take the troll. There are a lot of people out there like him. We’re going to get to the point where that goes away. I don’t think we have gotten close to the number of online businesses that are coming.

This is like with anchor thoughts. You’ll notice that many of the Trump people are very angry. Now, I’m not going to call them all crazy. I’m going to say that due to some slick marketing, that people have a ton of misinformation. There’s some people that truly believe that the reason they don’t have a job or that their standard of living isn’t what it should be is because somebody got something they didn’t. It’s simply not true. But they’re full of anger. You can’t talk to them. There’s that “lack” mindset.

Anchor thoughts crowd out everything else. It becomes the predominant theme in your mind.

Question: How do you deal with the inner troll and anchor thoughts?

Answer: I’ve got Personal Development for Hustler’s coming up. I didn’t do it on that channel, because there’s not enough juice on their yet. But I am going to be addressing that. There’s like six channels now. There’s Hustler’s Kung Fu, the main channel. There’s Mack Daddy Media that talks about video marketing. There’s B School for Hustler’s that’s going to be content for people who already have a business. There’s also, I’m Cameron. There’s a lot of stories coming there. Then there’s Rich Self-Published Author that’s going to be my writing stuff.

So, a lot of content is coming. It’s the reason I’m building a team. It’s the reason, I’m getting an office. I’m creating a real media company.

Question: Do you have to have a lot of bills to start a business?

Answer: You can start a business with no money but it takes longer to scale. Ideally, you want to have 10K to 50K. It will help you move so much faster.

With no money, in reality, it will take 2 to 4 years.

The First Step to Scaling a Business – You Will Fail if You Don’t Do This

The First Step to Scaling a Business – You Will Fail if You Don’t Do This

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

If you aren’t on the mail Chimp list below, you want to get on it. If you want to scale your business, the first thing you must do is design your business to scale. If you don’t put systems in to allow you to scale, you get stuck. That’s very common.

So this client built his business and it was built for a size 36 inch waist. No matter what you do, all you get is a 36-inch waist. You can get something smaller, but you can’t get anything bigger, right? That’s where the problem was. So, we had to rip apart the business and put in things that did not exist in the beginning to enable it to grow. That’s a really painful process.

To some degree, I’m going through this too with things that I am doing. There’s Hustler’s Kung Fu. There’s Mack Daddy Media. I’m bringing people in to do stuff I’ve pretty much done myself or with the assistance of virtual assistants.

Let’s stick with Mack Daddy Media. One of the things I have to do to scale for the future is to train people now. I have to slow things down and create a daily training schedule.

In video marketing, it changes every month. There’s a few principles that don’t change. 1. You have to create video. 2) You need to know where to deploy it. 3) You need to learn certain video techniques. 40 You need to learn SEO techniques. You need to learn about tags, keywords and more.

Today’s special is the Never Broker Action Pack. What I am going to do is a $450 coupon, for those who want to get into the business school for hustlers. You can use that coupon for that. That’s the deal that is $249.99 and it’s going to save you way more than it costs you. But we’re going to do a different level of training.

To grow Mack Daddy Media, I have to build a good foundation. That includes creating an employee handbook. The Employee handbook forces you to think about your company in a certain manner. You put in your job description and your company philosophy. You put in what we’re going to do and how you’re going to do it.

Question: Will the local meetings be at your office?

Answer: I have a place where we can do training. It probably will not be at my office. There will be another office. I’m looking. I’ve got one spot picked out. Here’s the thing, the original plan for this was to get two co-hosts and do the original show here. For one, I know what the acoustics are here. There’s a good tone in here. That’s why I want to do the show here.

Due to some other things, I’m going to hire some other people and they need a place to go. I’m going to have a training facility too. There’s going to be three places where Hustler’s Kung Fu people will be doing their thing.

I have to make some huge capital investments before the money comes in to get to the point where we can scale and grow. You’ve got to play to scale your business from Day 1. Planning to grow your business is asking what people and facilities do I need to get from here to here.

Creating the infrastructure to execute that business plan can take a week, to three months to a year to create the strategy and pull all of these pieces.

For you guys who do YouTube, You need to do live streams. It will refocus your channel. Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, they’re all about the live streaming.

Only eight to nine percent of all commerce is done online.  Half of that’s Amazon. 90% of all business is still out here. That’s why I created Mack Daddy Media. I feel I have 7, maybe 10 years before everybody catches on.

While I’m going back to old school methodology, everybody is running to the internet. No game plan. No plan to scale. No plan to build anything.

To build your business, the first thing you’ve go to do is work out a business plan for growth. In the beginning, you should do everything in your company. Once you get to a certain size, that wil be impractical.

When deciding on how to meet sales goals, you figure out what the average salesperson can sell. Then, if your sales goal is $5 million for example. The you can divide the average sales person’s figures into your goal to find out how many salespeople you need to meet your goal. That is a process for growth and scale.

I’m building out Mack Daddy Media to make my other consulting business really grow. I know I’m going to need more people. Mack Daddy Media is the consulting arm, teaching other people to do what I did for myself. The goal for the end of the year is 10 people.

Question: What’s your take on vlogging? Is it too saturated on YouTube?

Answer: Nope. Here’s the thing. Nothing is saturated with quality. Nothing is saturated with “you take.” Essentially, doing you and staying in your love, you will bring something to the platform that other people are not bringing.

Question: What’s your take on Ecommerce stores?

Answer: Build one. Let’s go back to the whole thing about scale. Let’s say you build an ecommerce store today and you keep it going for 20 years. Let’s say you don’t have a big market share, but you do have a large repeat customer base. Guess what? You’re a millionaire.

Question: What’s the best advice for writers who want to monetize their work?

Answer: Put the work out. Write every day.

In terms of growing your business, I see this all the time. People ask, how can I hire this rock star employee that needs no training? I knew I wasn’t going to go out there and find somebody to do what I wanted them to do. It wasn’t going to happen.

So, I knew I had to find someone with a good personality and a good work ethic and train them. That’s the reality. The thing is this investment takes time to build, but once you build it, it flies.

Question: What’s a good laptop brand?

Answer: Start your YouTube channel on your phone.

How to Brand Yourself – How to Brand Your Business for Fun and Profit

How to Brand Yourself – How to Brand Your Business for Fun and Profit

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

In this video, I am going to tell you why branding yourself, even if it pisses people off, ain’t nothing but money. You’ve got to decide, who am I selling to? Who is my tribe?

My tribe is 25 to 45-year-old males who are tired of being fucked over by the world, who are disenfranchised, who don’t make enough money, who don’t feel like men. They come here to get politically incorrect language about life from someone who has been there.

I know what it’s like to be hungry. I know what it’s like to be broke. I know what it’s like to have so many people disrespect you because you are not performing at your potential. I know what that feels like, so I can bring that language to you. That’s part of my brand of authenticity.

I’m going to tell you about the power of branding and why pissing off people who aren’t your target audience ain’t nothing but money.

One of the things you have to do to create a business that will beckon for money is you must brand yourself. It’s not something that’s optional. It’s necessary.

Alright, let’s talk about me pissing off a bunch of people when I said you’re trying to fuck with no pussy. This is what that accomplished. It did piss off a lot of people. I want to piss off a lot of people to get rid of them because they aren’t my target audience. They aren’t going to buy in or subscribe to my philosophy. It’s just that simple. It isn’t a hate thing. It’s a practicality thing.

I never intentionally branded myself until I came up with Hustler’s Kung Fu. The we added Hustler’s kung FU Life Skills and Hustler’s DOJO. It works. How does that help you? There are many people seeking mentors. I have a lot of mentors.

The first mentor I have is the marketplace. I look at what you do and what you don’t do. I relentlessly test on my personal Facebook page. I was testing quite a bit on my Facebook fan page.

There are various people in the world. I read their books. I looked at their businesses. They became my virtual mentors. I never met any of these people. I just reverse engineered what I thought they did to the best of my ability and applied those lessons to my business.

And it worked. I teach you what I’m doing. I have no fear of teaching you what I’m doing is because I know most of you are so fucking lazy that you’re not going to put in the hard work to be competitive with me. came onboard last year in August. It’s going to stay onboard because it works and it’s cool. Plus, it alienates a certain group of people intentionally. Yes, I intentionally want to chase people off. I have folks constantly leaving comments and these folks don’t have a business and they’re telling me how to run mine.

I’m running the business. I’m not going to listen to you if you don’t have a business, because you’re just talking out of your ass.

You should start a business. You should start testing, implementing and putting stuff into the marketplace. This is the most important reason why, because you are going to get feedback.

When you have a company and you’re trying to sell the everyone, you’re not selling anyone, because your message isn’t sharp enough. Whether you like me or not, my message is really sharp. It’s really blunt. You’re either going to be highly offended or you are going to be highly turned on. There’s no middle ground with me. That’s by design.

I’m not trying to win every person on the planet over. That’s not my goal. My goal is to help two groups of people. One the one side – there’s going to be my special clients. There’s going to be 30, 40 or 50 people that I want to help in the next four years make a million-dollar business. Then the other group is a few thousand people who are going to go through Hustler’s Kung Fu Life Skills. Then they are going to go to the DOJO and then some are going to trickle out and become high-end clients.

I’m giving you a branding lesson. When I say…you’re trying to fuck without a pussy, you’re never going to forget me. I’m in this for the long game and that’s part of branding. Branding is the long game.

Today I may offend the shit out of you, right? You may go through some lumps. You may have some shit happen to you. Then, two years down the road, you’re like…”Oh, that Motherfucker was talking about fucking with no pussy. I understand. Then they come back to the channel and go through the courses.  All of a sudden, they are a customer.

Branding makes you memorable. If you’re not branded, you’re just a commodity like everybody that sells on EBay and Amazon. When I buy a product from EBay or Amazon, I don’t mention the seller. I say, I just got this off EBay. Why? Because EBay and Amazon are the brand.

Unless you have your own website and you’re selling directly to customers, you have no brand.

To be branded, you’re going to have to have your own website, your own internet properties, your own lingo. I have a lot of lingo. It’s just me. Things like trying to fuck with no pussy, Hustler’s Kung Fu, manage your money or your money will manage you, from the rooter to the tooter. You’re just a scared little bitch. That’s me. That’s the brand, and it’s memorable. It grows and it grows and it starts to build.

You have to make a decision for your brand. Who are you selling to? Who is your tribe?

I know that I have to brand myself. That I have to have certain symbols, certain images. That’s why you’re going to see the quality of the thumbnails and videos go up.

Branding yourself means you have to make a few decisions.

  1. Who is your customer?
  2. Who are you?
  3. What are you trying to sell?
  4. What are you trying to achieve?

You’ve got to know the answers to those questions so well that if someone woke you up in the middle of the night, you could answer the questions on the spot out of a dead sleep.

Brand your business. If you are starting out with YouTube, get the best damn camera you can. Do your thing bigger and better than everyone else.

Brand yourself. Draw out your logo. Decide on company colors. Get yourself from gear. That is going to separate you from everyone else. It is extremely important.

The sooner you make firm decisions, the sooner you get your brand rolling.

Canon 70D and Lenses – How to Start a YouTube Chanel that Gets You Paid

Canon 70D and Lenses – How to Start a YouTube Chanel that Gets You Paid

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

Let’s go ahead and talk about the camera. We’re going to start of first with the most important part of the camera, which isn’t the camera. This is the lens that gets the blurry background. It’s a Canon EF 50mm, f/1.4 USM. Now it’s a little noisy, so you need a lab mike if you’re going to use it.

Say you have a RODE microphone that goes on top of the camera. If you use this lens and it doesn’t have the ultrasonic motor, you’re going to hear all the whirring and clicking. If you put an extension on the RODE microphone, you won’t hear all that.

As you start buying a lot of equipment, you’ll find a use for a lot of stuff. The thing I use for a Boom microphone was actually to hold the microphone for my podcasts or for my hangouts.

The lens is the most important part of the setup because it gives that nice blurry background which makes it nice. You can get this lens at Amazon.

This is another lens that I use, Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM. The thing about this lens is you can’t do a lot with it. It’s very tight.

This is another lens. This is a Sigma 18-35m F1.8 DC. It is an all-purpose lens. I use this quite a bit. You can do great videos. You can get incredibly crisp shots.

If I use the Canon EF 50mm, you have to have room to operate. This is why photography studios are so big now.

The Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC gives me more flexibility and I can use it all over the house.

The lenses are the most important part of your setup. You can go on EBay or Amazon and get a used camera that will handle these lenses for $200 to $500 or in some cases you can get a new camera for $300 to $600.

Now I’m going to explain why I got the camera. I got the Canon 70D because it has continuous autofocus for video. My primary reason for buying a camera was for video and that is what I use it for most of the time. I think it was $1200. I’m not sure.

If you’re going to do video, it makes a world of difference to have an articulating screen. It makes a huge difference because you get to flip it around and see yourself.

I use my iPhone for driving videos. You can get 10ADPreally clear. On a bright, sunny day, the quality will be amazing.

I’ve also got two C920s. Right now, they are on sale for $50 I believe. That’s what I use for these Google hangouts and these live events. Because for the money, you just can’t beat it.

Now, I’ll talk about lighting. I don’t have the lights on right now. The C920s are what is powering this look.

I’m going through all of this about the camera right now because I’ve started noticing this on YouTube and Facebook. The videos with the best quality stand out.

If you want a high-quality YouTube video and you don’t have a big budget, start with a iPhone. That will get you in the game.

Videos from 2007 aren’t being played anymore. They aren’t being ranked anymore because people aren’t watching them like they used to.

When you are looking on YouTube and see a really good thumbnail or you really see a gorgeous shot from a video that’s super clear, you pick it. It’s getting to the point that you’re going to have to have really good quality videos to get into the game.

You can do it on a budget. I figure you can get yourself a nice DSLA setup and mics and cameras for about $750 just to get started.

The rules for starting a YouTube channel in 2007 are radically different today. Number 1. You can start a YouTube channel. You can have the great channel. You can have great quality. You can do proper SEO. You can have all of these wonderful descriptions in your channel and you can even get someone to transcribe your video and upload it as a file.

You can do all of that and your channel will go nowhere if you do this one thing wrong, and that is pick your niche. Your niche is everything. Your niche will make you or break you. That is the key to starting a successful YouTube channel.

SEO is still very important, but it’s a different kind of SEO. A video that I put up got 200,000 views organically. It had a great thumbnail and a great title. Part of it is, I picked the right search phrase. When someone goes into Google, they’re looking for help. They’re going to put in a certain phrase, and if you don’t have that phrase in the title or a way for Google to index it, they’re not going to find you.

So, your number 1 thing is to pick the proper niche. Your next things to do are to go ahead and be sure you are creating searchable and shareable content.

If you’re going to put yourself in a category, you have to have a message and a game plan. This is very critical to your success.

There’s some confusion about my business consulting so I thought I’d make a short video to give you an idea about what’s going on.

#1 I’m not doing EBay consulting.

#2 No. I don’t do Amazon Consulting.

I’m the guy that believes on having your own website. I’m the guy that believes in using Internet assets to build your stuff, not using someone else’s.

You must have your own internet properties.

What do I do?

I am a strategist. I am a growth person. I do business development strategy.

I create a Road Map to get your from Point A to Point B.

Ask yourself what kind of life do I want. If you don’t want to do lifestyle planning, I don’t want to work with you.

What kind of life do you want?

What kind of hours do you want to work?

Why is that important? It brings your stress level down.

Another part of this is being able to answer where you want to go and what are you doing.

How much money do you want to make?

Let’s talk about the process.

It takes me time to figure out who you are and where you want to be.

How do I get paid? Per hour, per project. If I have to set your business up, I can do an equity split.

Your First Year in Business Will Be a Bitch

Your First Year in Business Will Be a Bitch

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

No one prepares you for that first year in business. They really don’t. Your first year in business is going to be rough. It’s going to be very, very rough. I can’t even begin to tell you how crazy it will be.

I’m going to discuss the first thing you should look out for in your first year. The first thing you should know, is you’re going to fuck up. I’m not saying just a little bit, but a lot.

It’s part of how you’ll grow as a business owner. When you first start, you’ve got mojo. Your mojo is hustle, it’s sweat, it’s shine. It’s grind. You’re moving nothing to something. You’re out there making it happen.

You’re taking a concept, a product or a service and you’re saying, “Hey world…I want you to be a part of it.”

And it works. And it starts working better and better. Then one day you realize, that this is something real. This is something cool. It’s like giving birth. It’s the closest thing a male will come to it. It’s going to put some hair on your chest.

There’s so many things that are going to come to your during that first formation. When I went to get my business license, I went to the website. I did everything I thought was correct, right? I thought that after I went on the site and paid my $138 that I was going to come out with a business license. Little did I know that this was going to be a 3-week process.

We had signed a lease. We had money going out. We had product in the place, but we could not open.

We were able to make Craigslist sales, but it was still kind of worrisome. We thought about what they might do if they caught us.

You are trying to make money, maintain and get your thing going. It can be a problem.

Now. Let’s just say you were an employee and you’re going through all this stuff at once, like the job stress, the personal relationship stress and if you have kids, the kid stress? It can be a lot. That’s why many people just give up.

Many people think it will be much easier than it is. I’m going to give you some stuff that happened to me. I had five business failures before I was out of the military.

I was demoralized. I was depressed. I thought, none of this shit works. I didn’t realize it wasn’t supposed to work because I didn’t know how to do it.

There’s no shame in being ignorant, but it should be a sin to remain ignorant.

That’s one of the things I didn’t do. I kept pushing. I kept pushing. I kept learning. I kept changing things up. I kept looking at ways to make things better and I grew.

But, I’m going to give you some stuff from the more successful businesses.

I didn’t know what to do when you opened up a store. I did what I thought was correct. I went and I looked at the retail spot. I sat out there in my car and gaged the traffic a few times a week. It got a lot of traffic.

The road was super, super busy. What I didn’t know was that as people came down the road, the store was practically invisible. Nobody was able to really see it because they came down the hill and they were coming to a busy light with a lot of cars. You literally had to crank your head sideways. I had no clue.

We had to do all kinds of stuff to get people to come into the store. It was just insane.

I remember one time when there was something happening in the store and I could not put product in at the time, so I unloaded stuff in a row out in front of the store. I decided to tag it there, then put it back in the store when I could.

Little did I know that putting that stuff in the parking lot in front of the store was one of the biggest things I could do. That day was the first day we made rent in sales.

This is where it gets really stupid. It turns out you could only put stuff on the sidewalk. You couldn’t get much stuff on the sidewalk. Then neighbors would complain.

We just pushed it. We weren’t making money any other way. Then I figured out some stuff to increase Craigslist sales and stopped putting the furniture out in front of the store.

Another thing to think about is about your business license. If you don’t have an accountant, get one right away.

If you have a LLC business license set up as a single member LLC, it will be treated like a sole proprietorship.  The only way to stop this from happening is for you to fill out some forms within the first few days after you form an LLC. Otherwise, you will be hit with a 35% tax plus 20% self-employment tax.

Now, that’s never happened to me. But I know people it happened to. It’s rough.

Get yourself an accountant. Find an accountant who works with people in your industry.

What can happen to you depends on who you are selling to a lot of the time. If you are selling business to business, there is a lot of fuckery there.

When you are selling business to business and you don’t know how to navigate getting a deposit and they want you to operate on a purchase order, you could literally be signing the death certificate for your business. When you get a large order for 80K to 200K using a purchase order, then it could be 60 to 90 days before you get paid. Many people don’t pay on time. So, you’re scrambling while you wait to get paid.

You’ll spend one-third of your time getting business. You’ll spend one-third of your time doing business. You’ll spend one-third of your time trying to get paid. That’s why all of the bigger companies have Accounts Receivable departments.

What I learned was not to do business with purchase orders. One bad month when people don’t pay, could put you out of business.

Part of the reason the first year is so rough is because you don’t know what you’re doing. There are just so many variables. I’m going to give you an example of something that happened to a friend. He had a great business plan, tons of cash and was all set up. Everything was going well. Then the regulatory environment changed. The law was changed. That cash went away fast. He was in the healthcare industry. He was out of business overnight.

Online, you can get in trouble with a Google penalty. They can change the algorithm and the next thing you know, 70% of your traffic is gone. When that happens, what are you going to do? You have to hustle on the fly.

Another thing people won’t tell you about your first year in business is that your idea could be perfect, but it’s going to take society a year or three or five to find you. You’ve got to keep doing it.

It’s a struggle. It’s going to take time. The first 2 or 3 years are going to be a bitch. If you can hang on, you’ll make more money on one day than you did in a year.
