Basic Business Tips How to Get Your Cash Flow on in One Day

Historically if you look at the facts, those that have money, power and position can benefit their kids more than the hardest working person in the hood. That’s the reality. People want to act like that doesn’t matter. The reason people want to act like that doesn’t matter is because it raises this issue of responsibility. Success is inherently about responsibility.

People will tell you they just want money and they don’t want to sacrifice anything. They don’t want responsibility. They say they don’t want to deal with these things. That’s the reason they don’t get the money. That’s a problem. That’s a big problem.

What we’re going to talk about are service businesses. Let’s say you’re Broke Dick Danny and you are attempting to build something with no help. My friend, your journey is going to be long and arduous. There’s nothing you can do to change that fact.

For most people who don’t have resources, the fastest way for you to make cash today is with a service business. Now, what is a service business? There’s the basic services everyone knows about. There is a car wash. There is being a maid.

There are also upper level service businesses. Typically, the big hiccup with that is people don’t want to do the work. I’m going to tell you how I got started and some of the stuff I learned.

Resources and environment do not give you a leg up if they’re poor. If you’re dealing with that situation, you’re going to have to do what I did. How I got started making money as a kid was cutting grass. It was a lot of physical labor. It was a lot of work.

As a kid, I could easily rustle up $5 or $10 in the neighborhood just looking for stuff to do. One of the things I would do is collect glass bottles and turn them in for the money. Where I am going with this is I’d do that type of stuff because I didn’t have any skill sets.

When you start a business, you should get your children involved. That is a beautiful legacy to leave your children. Immigrants do this all the time. Having those lessons and experiences will help them.

There is this book called the Ultimate Sales Machine. You need to get that book. It will solve a lot of your problems.

In order to get cash really quickly, it’s going to have to be a service business. There are so many things you can choose from. Replacing screens on cell phones is a service business. Uber is a service business. Movers are a service business.

Let’s talk about flipping stuff. I’m going to go back to my path. If you treat your service business as a launch pad from day one, that allows you to create a bigger business. Let’s say you have a car wash service. I was talking to this one guy just getting started and he said he didn’t want to wash cars.

I asked him what other options he had to make as much money. He said none. So, I said, “So what you’re telling me is you aren’t in a position to be fucking choosy.” He said he never thought about it like that. If you don’t have a lot of skill sets, you don’t have a lot of options here.

He got the car wash going. He was going to people’s house. He was doing waterless car washes and all this other stuff. I told him to write this goal down. I will run this waterless car wash business for one year by myself until I can get help.

This is the thing. When you go from having no money to starting a business, when you hire som one, you view it as taking money away from you. You’re not going to grow or make the money you want to make as long as it is just you. It’s not going to happen.

The car wash guy went ahead and hired two employees and got to the point where he didn’t have to run the business. That put him in a position where he made maybe $200 less than when he was doing it all himself. Now. Let’s look at that.

What did he get? He got all his time back and he got $200 or $300 less than when he was doing it all himself. He didn’t have to get up early in the morning. He didn’t have to go out and meet anybody. He just collected money. When you can buy back your time, that is very important. You can’t replace your time. That’s the path you take for a service business.

Let’s say you’re a college student. What kind of needs to college students have? How can you fulfill them? That’s how you have to think if you have no money.

I started off cutting grass. Then, I left home and joined the military. I got training to work in a medical lab. That allowed me to leave service business, because I had a skill set that was in demand. Until you get a skill set that is in demand through a job or business, you are stuck with the bullshit. That’s the reality. I’m here to tell you the shit that no one else will tell you.

We’re going to talk about making money with digital products. Now what are digital products? That’s your eBooks. That’s your audio books. That’s your online courses. That’s your videos. It’s a whole lot of stuff.

I’m going to explain some stuff to you guys that is going to be really, really different. People want to know how can I get a digital product. How can I put out an eBook? A lot of people want that information, but it’s not really the stuff you need.

Let’s start at the beginning about how to get into digital products. Let’s take my first digital product which was an eBook. It was a PDF. Now when I did that, I knew something that many of you just don’t know or don’t want to appreciate. I knew that I had to get traffic. This is the key to selling all digital products. You need to get traffic.

It’s not about the eBook. It’s not about the course. It’s about the traffic. That’s what you need to get to sell digital products online.

Let’s really talk about how I got traffic. YouTube is how I get traffic. I have to do things to keep you watching. If I get enough traffic, I’m going to get sales. Traffic and sales are proportional.  There is a correlation.

Part of the science of getting traffic is understanding what your targeted audience wants. Let’s talk about my book, Making Money A to Z with Self Storage Unit Auctions which is still on Amazon today. I knew once I got enough traffic that people would buy this book. I didn’t know all of those storage auction TV shows were about to come out.

I wondered if I should put the book in a traffic stream that was already developed. There are certain niches that never go away such as How to Lose Weight, How to Make Money, How to Get a Boyfriend. They never go away because people always have these problems. Those niches already have traffic built in, but you have to tap into it with the right type of copy and products. That traffic exists. It’s already there.

What I did was I created my market and I created my traffic. At the time, I didn’t really understand that what I was doing was pretty hard. I was so excited about writing my book. I just put my head down and went to work. There was a lot of stuff I did that did not work. I just kept going. I was woefully ignorant about traffic and what it took to develop traffic.

Let me tell you something I learned from a blog, Into the Gloss. It’s about makeup. Emily West created this blog. She got it up to 400,000, 500,000, 600,000 unique hits per month. She built this blog from scratch. Eventually, she got it up to 1.2 million hits and then she went to this venture capitalist. This lady wrote her a check for a million dollars.

I’m telling you that, because if you can get enough traffic before you have a product, people will buy in. Getting traffic like that is hard. If your blog is popping 250,000 unique hits per month, you can make about $80K to $150K per year. That’s just with a blog.

Now if you’re getting 500,000 hits a month with a direct sales channel, you could literally make $2 or $3 million per month. If you can do that, you’re printing money.

Before you create any digital product, you need to get traffic. You need to know who is going to be interested in this product and why would they buy it. How much would they pay for it? Once you know the answers to these questions, then you can get ready.

What happens is you have these people with stars in their eyes and they’re going into the wilderness of the internet. I rarely participate in online course developer groups because they all miss this point. If you’ve got enough traffic, you can sell toilet paper. If you have enough traffic, you can sell marbles.

So many people spend so much time and effort developing these wonderful courses. Then they put them up and nobody buys. It’s because they haven’t developed their traffic sources.

I’ve beat you over the head with this for a reason. Whatever you want to sell, you need to develop traffic.

Essentially, it doesn’t matter what your product is if you can get traffic. That’s what many folks don’t tell you. You’ll see people sweating out details of a book or a course. It doesn’t really matter. I know from experience. I made $62K in 11 months from my first book and it was a shitty product. It had typos and all kinds of stuff.

Why? Because I got traffic. I probably would have done much better if I had gotten more traffic. If I had used an editor, I probably would have made $120K. The point is, you need to work on the traffic first.

Let’s talk about Into the Gloss again. She took two or three years to build her traffic. Now, I want you to think about that. She created a product after her traffic was built. I want you to understand me, I built my traffic and my product concurrently. I can tell you that creating a product before you create the traffic is always going to leave you somewhat disappointed.

Let’s get into the whole digital product thing. It’s about trust. Trust is a rare commodity online and anywhere.

A lot of people just want to slap a product up and then buy traffic. Here’s another thing about paid traffic. All the paid traffic in the world is not going to make a lousy offer convert.

What’s your offer? It’s your presentation. It’s your cover.  It’s your opening lines. It’s so many things. You have to be real. You have to be transparent. You have to continue to put out content on the subject.

In many ways, paid traffic is better than organic traffic. Paid traffic forces you to get your stuff together. It forces you to make certain decisions. I anticipate that in 10 years, everybody is going to have to pay for traffic. That’s just my opinion, but I think that is where we’re heading.

A lot of people don’t want to spend time creating traffic first. But you need to, because it’s going to take you a while to get your footing. This is “hands down” the most important lesson you need to learn about making money online. If you can get traffic, whether you have a product or not, you can get paid.

That’s why people go to eBay and Amazon. It’s because the traffic is already there for certain products. It’s not there for all products. But if you develop that traffic on a product that doesn’t have any traffic, that’s all yours. I’m here to tell you, that could be life-changing money.

I keep having the same conversation with at least 20 different people over the last few weeks about how they don’t have enough money. Then one day I talked to three people I know who make six figures. I was wondering, what’s going on.

It’s one thing to be in a world of debt and it’s another thing to be in a world of debt and have nothing tangible to show for it. That’s what’s been going on.  

Back in the day, I was actually like you. Sixteen or twenty years ago, I did not know how to handle money. I knew how to make money. I knew how to hustle.  

You know how people come to you in your life. What’s that saying? When the student is ready the teacher will show up. It’s funny because I was thinking this weekend how often I come across people who don’t make a lot of money, but they are excellent managers of the money they make. That is key.

The first person who taught me how to handle money was someone I worked with. I can’t even remember her name. She comes to work one day and she has this brand-new Celica. It was new for her, but it was a used car. She said it was only $8K. She said it was a good deal and she paid cash for it.

I knew what she made per hour. I knew I almost made twice what she made. I asked her where she got the money. She said she saved it. I wondered how the hell she did that.

We were on break together talking. She lived at home with her parents. She took full advantage of the opportunity. She paid her parents $250 a month. Her dad taught her to save. His house was paid for and the guy dropped out of high school. He told her to save half of what she made.

At the time, she was maybe 32 or 34. She broke it down for me. She said I get paid twice a month hand sometimes three times a month. She said, “This is what I do with my first check. I buy groceries, pay my parents and put some money in my pocket.” That second check went straight into savings. I asked her how long she had been doing that. She said for years. She said she had $40K saved.

There was something else I remember about her. She had mad, mad attitude. She was that type of employee that would tell her boss how she felt. When I asked her about that, she said, “I’ve got attitude money.” I asked her what attitude money was. She said, “I’ve got a little stash. If they fire me, I’m good.”

Another lesson about money came to me via an elderly couple I met when I worked at Northside Hospital. Sometimes when you meet patients, you get that vibe and you become friends. This guy was a school teacher and his wife was also a school teacher. When they got married, they saved first and spent later. They lived with his parents the first year they were married and saved her salary to put down on a house. They continued to live on one salary and paid that house off very quickly.  

Once again, these are not brilliant financial strategists. These are hardworking people that applied common sense. That’s the gist of it. You are going to have to employ common sense with your money.

Most people’s problem isn’t a lack of money. It’s a lack of discipline. This is the challenge for this blog. I want you to take $5 and put it in a can or savings account every week. That’s not a lot of money. Do that every week. I know that sounds silly but it will change you.

I did this myself. I did it with $5. Around the fourth month, I realized I had about $65. I knew I could do better, so then I increased it to $10. Then I increased it to $25. Over a two-year period, I got it up to $100 a week.

Understand that there was a survey that found that over 50% of people in the USA could not come up with $2K in a thirty-day period if they needed to. That’s problematic. That’s a big ass problem.

It’s not because these people are stupid. We have been indoctrinated as a culture to fulfill our wants now and pay for it later. The problem is the interest you pay to do that, which reduces the buying power of your dollar.

You have to develop financial discipline. You need to train your brain that money that crosses your hand does not have to go out somewhere. You need to sit back and evaluate what you’re going to do with the money before you spend it.

I am going to tell you a few things I have done to free up cash. One day a guy hit my BMW and wrecked it. I got some money for it. I decided not to replace that car because of some things going on in my life at the time. I decided to sit on the money and parked it in the bank. I went on Craigslist and got a “91 Honda Accord with 200K miles on it for $800. That thing lasted me a year. I sold it for $750.

I’ve had roommates. I was making a six-figure income and I had a roommate. That brings me to another lesson I learned from some people I barely knew. I used to work with this Indian guy. He was an IT guy. This guy dropped by the office and he introduced him as his roommate. I asked him, “How many roommates do you have?” He said, “Five.” He was in a five-bedroom house and rented out the house to other Indian guys he barely knew. He said when they paid their rent, it put him ahead $680 a month.

It blew my mind. He made $85K a year. He said when he got married, then he would buy his own house. He said he did not need his own house now. I saw his wife when she came over. He got lucky on that arranged marriage, because she was hot.

These are some of the lessons I learned over the years. If you have a high income and you step down in your lifestyle, you free up tons of cash. I’m amazed at the number of people who make $80K to $150K who are broke. People spend money on shoes, clothes and lunch. They are fucking themselves.

Your problem is not with how much money you make. It is with what you do with the money that crosses your hand. Learn to save.

If you have just $5,000 in cash, it will handle 85% to 90% of the emergencies that happen in life. Then you wouldn’t have to rob Peter to pay Paul. If you have any business ambitions, you have to learn how to save. Learn to live without stuff. Get away from this immediate gratification bullshit. It’s killing you.

What’s gotten me ahead in life is having more discipline or hustle than the average guy. You have to write your goals down on a sheet of paper or type them up and print them. That will engrave that goal in your mind.

Why am I talking about this? I got a comment. People talk about my competitors, right? The thing is I don’t have any competitors. I’m going to tell you why all these gurus are living on the beach or in Thailand. Many of these people have you gassed up thinking that’s where you want to live too.

The explanation is not going to be pretty. The number one reason you see all these people in these exotic locations is because they can’t afford to live in a first world country. You’ll see it. They are on the beach in these exotic locations.

Do you know how much it costs to live in the Philippines or Thailand? If you have $1500 a month coming in in Thailand, you’re doing great. You have your own place to stay. You have a chef, a maid, a driver. You can have all that for $1500 a month or less. That’s why they’re there, because they can’t compete over here.

This is one of the reasons I’ve become the cranky hustler. I live in the USA. I make my bread here. I live here and I’m successful here. I get very irritated when I get compared to somebody who isn’t doing that.

Let’s talk about these minimalist people. I don’t believe in clutter because I think clutter jacks up your life, right? It’s not that I don’t like clutter because I can’t afford anything. That’s where a lot of these fake minimalists are coming in. They’re living in trucks or going across country in a van. That could be cool if that’s you. But there are a lot of people forced into that situation because they are broke. It’s not a choice for them.

I see some stuff that is about to drop in the hustler porn bubble. I see all of these people online teaching how to get wealthy. There was this one guy who was talking about all the money he made on Shopify. He was in Thailand. He said he was retired. He’s twenty-five. Based on whatever money he has, he can live well there. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that.

If you want to move to Thailand because the cost of living is substantially cheaper, do it. It’s a win. But, do not act like you are making millions of dollars, when you could be living the high life on $1200 to $1500 a month in one of these third world countries or emerging economies. You see a lot of that stuff.

One of the things that I see that happens quite a bit with this internet stuff is that many people feel because it is the internet, it’s not real. Many people feel that you don’t have to have real business skills. Many people feel that everybody is equal online. Everybody is not equal online.

Many people miss opportunities because they are expecting the opportunity to look like a long lost lover. You know, you meet. You finish each other’s sentences. You connect on that cosmic level. Some of the best opportunities I had, they looked like street people. Storage units are an example. I routinely hauled off trash, garbage and burnt out units.

In the online community, everybody knows everybody. This is how I know many people are not being completely honest with you. That’s why I get cranky when people compare me to these people because I made my bread out here in the real world in the private sector.

I can make money offline or online. A lot of these cats can’t. If you took these people’s Facebook ads away from them, they couldn’t make money.

There are a lot of people building their financial empire based on Facebook ads. As long as their ads work, they’re going to make bread. What’s going to happen to them when Facebook makes changes.

I’m looking at some changes that Google AdWords just made. So what are you going to do when you become a one skill wonder.

The USA is one of the easiest countries to make money.

Question: Would you expand your business outside the USA?

Answer: I’m already international. Here’s the thing with Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. Anybody that can get traction on any of those platform can get an international audience. It’s interesting that you asked me that. I am going straight, 100% American. I do advertising, and I am not doing advertising anywhere else. This is why. There is a cultural disconnect. They have different laws or few laws. Sometimes their environments are unstable. The advice that I give here will not always be relevant for other countries.

DO this. Go to Craigslist and go to Rome, Italy. Look at Craigslist and see what you use. If you’re in Rome and you want to meet a girl. You’re not going to meet her on Craigslist. Your ass is going to have to go to the bar and chat her up. Culturally there are a lot of places where the internet does not work like it does here.

The world is getting smaller. Typically, when someone wants to run to another country, it’s part romance and fantasy and they’re trying to escape something. Do what you need to do. If you can’t make money here, the chances of you making money somewhere else are pretty slim. It’s easier to make money here than any other place in the world. I’m talking about making six figures or a million dollars.

It’s important to remember that a lot of places you go, depending on your VISA, you can’t work. Go to these expat blogs and see what these people go through when they move to another country.

Question: Do you use Instagram to grow your business and if you don’t why not?

Answer: I use Instagram for fun. What’s that saying…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I am learning Instagram right now. I have 849 followers. I would need to have 10K, 15K, 20K or 30K invested followers to really do anything.

Here’s another business lesson for you. If you have something that is making you money and getting you traffic. Do not stop doing that to do something you don’t know how to do.

In order to win today, your marketing must be consistent and often. Do things to get yourself out there that other people aren’t doing.

Answer: To stay consistent. It’s not super complicated. Keep it simple. Be consistent and pound it out. It can get boring. It’s hard to resist moving over to a new shiny thing.

There are a lot of people who are confused when you say, let’s make money online. There are a lot of ways I’ve made money online over the years. I continue to make money online that way.

I’m going to name a few online moneymaking methods that you have probably heard about

  1. YouTube
  2. Blogging
  3. Affiliate Marketing
  4. Self-Publishing
  5. Facebook
  6. Instagram
  7. Providing a service
  8. Selling something
  9. Creating an app
  10. Podcasting

These are the majority of ways people make money online. I’m going to discuss some of the things I did to make money online. I’m going to peel back the curtain and show you just how hard it is.

The primary way I make money is on YouTube. I make a little coin on YouTube. It’s not a lot. It’s not even enough to live on. Making YouTube money is very, very challenging. You’re going to put out content and invest in equipment long before you get income back. You’re going to work a minimum of three to four months before you see a return, and the return is not going to be that big. More than likely, you are going to work a year or two before you really start to see some YouTube money.

Number 2 is blogging. I have HustlersKungFu.com right now and put some stories up. But I don’t blog the way I used to blog. Blogging is about creating content and creating enough traffic so somebody wants to put ads on your site.

Affiliate marketing is where you market someone else’s stuff. You market someone’s widget or whatever and you get a piece of the action. That’s affiliate marketing.

Self-publishing is when you put up a book on Amazon or iTunes and other sites. You have several ways you can make money self-publishing. I self-published my first book. That’s how I got started. It was a lot of hard work. It doesn’t give you immediate gratification.

Self-publishing is challenging. It’s really hard to make money. You can make money, but it’s hard.

Let’s talk about Facebook. It’s kind of like YouTube with some important differences. You can get on Facebook and you can make money. You develop a following and you put yourself out there. People can pay you for ads. People can place ads in your content. There’s a lot of ways you can make money with the Facebook business model.

Next you have Instagram. The “Gram” is very interesting. This is how you make money with Instagram. You can develop a following, sell ads or do promoted posts.  You can also do that with YouTube and Facebook. A promoted post is when someone like me, a media buyer says look, “I’ll give you $50 for this post.” Again, you have to build a following which is going to take three months, four months, five months or longer. That’s how that works.

Next on our list is providing a service. That’s something else that I do, I provide consulting services. You can use the internet for lead generation. That’s what I do.

You can also sell something. There are so many platforms that you can sell something on. There’s eBay, Amazon, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Gumroad. There are so many platforms you can sell on to make money online.

The next way to make money is to create an app. This is very challenging if you don’t know how to code. There is a lot of money in apps if you know what you’re doing.

Finally, you can make money online with podcasting. Those are the ten ways you can make money online. These are proven moneymakers. There are other ways, but these are the typical vehicles.

Let’s just review YouTube. YouTube is great, but it’s an exercise in delayed gratification. I’ve gone through three different renditions of YouTube. Right now, YouTube is loving me. I don’t know if you’ve noticed a lot of stuff has increased. I’m driving it a little differently than other YouTubers.

Many people want to make money without showing their face and getting their hands dirty. They just want to make money. It is getting harder and harder for you not to show your face if you want to build a brand.

Everybody is nosy. They want to see who you are and what you’re doing. They want to see how you are making money.

In affiliate marketing, you don’t have to show your face. There are so many ways to make money with affiliate marketing. Personally, I have no affiliate marketing right now. I’ve done affiliate marketing, but I like creating my own stuff.

Facebook is full of opportunities. Facebook just spent a billion dollars on content. But, here’s the thing. You had to be in the content ecosystem to get some of that billion. You had to already have a following before you could get part of that money.

The lesson from that is to get started doing something. Do not wait. Get started doing something. Because if you’re sitting there waiting for that magical majestic moment, it is never going to happen.

There is a lot of money in self-publishing. It’s not just Amazon or iTunes. It’s your own self-publishing. My online courses are an example of self-publishing. I am creating my own courses.

There is something someone needs on the internet. Someone needs it and wants it and they will pay you for it. I provide high-end consulting. That’s the service I sell on the internet.

I’ll tell you about that. I don’t really want to talk to anyone for $1000 an hour. I enjoy the long-term consulting packages. They sell for $40K, $50K or more. At a minimum, I’m going to keep that client for three months. That’s $150K a year. For those clients, I’m on the phone with them every day. I’m working weekends. That’s part of how this thing goes.

Selling something online is an obvious path. Once again, I sell my courses. I use YouTube. Out of the ten ways to make money, I do four. There is some overlap.

If you want to make money online, you need to speak the language of making money online. You have to start with something. You need to have something to bring to the table, to take online. You have to be dedicated to make anything work.

When I was ass out due to poor decisions, I had the wrong mindset. When I started to transition and to improve my mindset to have a better perspective about how the real-world works, there was this big beast in my life. That beast was fear.

I was making moves, but I was backsliding. I would do something right and the results would be great. That would scare me. I know it sounds crazy. It literally scared me to actually progress because I was changing. At the time, I was a bum falling far short of my potential. That fear is real. Unless you address it and deal with it, it will pull you back. You will make gains only to mentally trip yourself up. I did that several times.

Then one day, I had a conversation with myself. I’m going to give you the process on how to deal with fear. I sat down and I asked myself, “What is going to be the worst thing that is going to happen?” Because when you make these changes and things improve, the fear is in your head and it is talking. Fear says, “Is it going to last? Are people going to like you?” The fear talk goes on and on.

It talks to you while you sleep. It’s constant. You’ve got to deal with it because it is not going to go anywhere. You have to grab fear by the throat and choke the shit out of it. You’re going to have new friends. You’re going to potentially have a new job. You’ll have a new house, a new business, a new wife or a new husband, I’m just saying. This is some of the stuff that happens.

So, as you get on this road of metamorphosis, it can be a scary thing because so many things in your life will change because of your success. If the people in your circle are not supporting you, and you’re being real and putting forth the effort, those are people who don’t need to be in your circle. What is the purpose of keeping people in your life who are shooting daggers at you and your efforts?

So, ask yourself these questions, and name out everything when you do. If you’re married ask yourself: if I do this, will I lose my wife or husband. As you pull those fears out of your head, write them down somewhere. Then come up with solutions.

For example. let’s say you have been a total fuckup and your wife is at the breaking point. You know that if you do one more thing wrong, regardless of how good the intent is, then she’s gone. How are you going to deal with that? You’ve got to ask yourself: Is it worth doing what you’re doing with the possibility of getting that result? She may not leave or she may. You have to prepare a contingency plan in your mind.

One of the things I have learned is that most of your worst fears will never be realized. When I wrote my first book and put it out there, some bad things happened, but 90% of the bad things I worried about didn’t happen. So, I worried about a lot of things that never happened.  

As you go through this exercise of naming your fears, be true to it. Just say, I am afraid I may lose money. I am afraid I may be laughed at. Isolate these. Name them. Call them out. You’ll see that some of those fears that were living in your mind that were 80 feet tall, when you pull them out and really look at it, they were really midgets. They’re three feet tall and they’ve got a limp.

Part of dealing with your fear is facing it before it can grow into this cancer. Whatever is going on in your mental environment is real to you, which means you are going to get the same benefits or negative byproducts you would get if it actually were true.

That’s why a good book for you to get is: The Power of the Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy. You can get it on Amazon. That is one of my journeys right now. I am working very, very hard to stay away from negativity.  I am trying not to dwell on it, not to think about it, not to touch it and not to deal with negative people. It can contaminate your success.

So, do that fear exercise and come up with a contingency plan to deal with your fears. It gives you confidence. Understand, some of the things you fear may happen. Instead of living in a life of self-induced terror, come up with a plan.

I’m going to give you one of my fears that actually came true. I was in the process of negotiating a reality show. If this thing had gone through, I would have had the first storage auction reality show. One of my fears was I was going to look like an idiot. It really held me back. If I had played ball with them and been open to pushing the deal though, it probably would have happened.

There was something in me that just kept saying, “Don’t do it.” I went through this exercise and asked myself, what if that happens. What if I become a laughingstock. What if I look like a total idiot? What if I become one of those people who goes on a reality show and loses their freaking mind?

I weighed out the consequences and stuck to my guns. As I looked at the other people who did get shows, in my opinion their lives became fucked. Yes, I admit, they made a lot of money in a very short period of time. But, that’s “now” thinking. What about the next year and the year after? At this juncture, I think Dave Hester probably wishes he had never gotten into it. You can’t go back once you’ve crossed a certain bridge.

So, I went through the fear exercise and decided that the price if that fear was realized would have caused me to lose too much self- respect. Sometimes dealing with fear head on will liberate you and save you.

Now, with the book, I had a ton of fear. Even though some of the things I feared did happen, I still think it was one of the best things I ever did. Writing that first book is up in the top five best things I’ve done. The benefits kicked the negative byproducts in the ass.

When you’re starting something new, you can’t go in there weak with your head down. You have to go in like you are going to win. Going in with fear laden thought processes is a sure way to lose.

As you address your fears and go through this process, be sure to think about the benefits. Sometimes being successful means getting your ass kicked a few times. You have to remember that when you get your ass kicked, that’s not the end of the world. That’s not the end of your dream.

If you want to be successful, go through this fear exercise and come up with a contingency plan. Going through this and thinking about it will give you the strength to persevere.

I know people who will blow $200, $300 or $400 on a pair of shoes or a purse and will not blink. They’re like, gimmee, gimmee, gimmee. They are so excited. They pull out that credit card and then they have it.

Every day I get emails asking if my course is worth it. I’ve developed a new mindset. It started about the middle of last year. There are too many people that really like what I do for me to even worry about folks who don’t.

So now I shrug at people when they ask me these types of questions. If I didn’t do a good enough selling job for someone, then it’s not for them. I hope they have a nice life.

For those of you who really like it, then great. People ask me if it’s like this program or that program. The answer is no, my courses are not like anybody else’s program. It is based on my life.

Just like your life is totally different from my life, my programs can’t be like anybody else’s programs. It’s not modeled after anyone else’s program. I’m not a member of a lot of stuff. Most of my information comes from books, audio courses, and from specific individuals, who for the most part were never online.

Let’s talk about what the Hustler Mindset is. It’s about the ability for you to control you. Most people are a slave to their impulses, habits and desires. When you flip that around, you change your world.

Now what is it? It’s not internet marketing. It’s not storage auctions. It’s not Craigslist. It’s a combination of things. I’ve learned that when people pay money for something, it makes them accountable. You can’t keep paying money for a course and not do anything.

YouTube is going to be crazy in the next five years. I’m not going anywhere. I want to help people learn how to use YouTube and set up their own channels. You don’t have to get a lot of views to make money if you target your audience right. Everyone is going to video.

As I charge more for my courses, the craziness has come down. Since I’ve stopped battling people on YouTube the craziness has gone away. I am interested in serving people who want to be served. That is a better decision. I can have the best cake in a spoon and offer it to you, but if you don’t want cake, I might as well have shit in that spoon. You have to feed the people that want to be fed. Everyone does not want to be fed.

There are still people in the matrix hooked up to the tubes and they do not want to be released. They do not want emancipation. They do not want out of the matrix. They want to continue on doing the same old thing because the price of change is still too high. The only time you are going to change as a person is when the pain to change is less than the pain to stay the same.

I am trying to bring the value of my courses up. I am not trying to come down to where you are. That is my goal. I’m trying to bring you up to that place you want to be.

If you read this far, take thirty minutes and account for all the money you spent on bullshit this week. That would be anything you did not need or some desire that you did not save up for and just bought on a whim. The results may shock you.

You need to protect your online assets like never before. The first thing we’re going to talk about is protecting your YouTube account and protecting any account that lets you have two-step verification. Passwords really don’t work anymore. I’m going to give you some insights into what’s happening.

Essentially, when something comes up on Facebook like, “What street did you grow up on?” or “What’s your father’s middle name?” this type of activity is trolling for databases. What the hackers are doing is getting so much information about you, that they don’t need your password because they have enough information  to correctly guess the security questions if you have them enabled.

I recommend that you enable two step verifications on your YouTube account and on your Gmail accounts. I think Facebook has it too. Enable it on the accounts you can, because once someone gets into your account, you’re screwed. You should stop this video and do that right now.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a big channel or a small channel, you are open to being exploited. Even if they have your password, they can’t get into your account, once you have two step verifications. It’s super, super sweet. If you have a growing channel and you have not done this, it is a matter of when you’re going to get hacked, not when you’re going to get hacked. It’s happening because there is so much value associated with online assets.

Another thing I read is people are losing access to their Twitter and Facebook page if they are commingling business and personal. This is something I am guilty of myself. This is something I will stop doing today. If you have a personal Facebook page, leave it personal. Do not post your business stuff on there. If you get sued or something, they may be able to take your personal page. I was blown away by the fact that people are losing their social media accounts in lawsuits.  

Everything has to be separate. For even more protection, you need to incorporate. If you are heavily invested in the online space and you haven’t incorporated, then you are a sitting duck.

Before you do anything, talk to someone. Everyone’s situation is different. I think you should do an incorporation. You have to publicize it, but this is why you should do it. Once you have the corporation, then you should have that corporation form the LLC. Then, you put your online assets in that LLC. That’s double layer protection. It is also good for tax purposes.

There’s another reason I want you to incorporate. Yes, this is expensive and something you should consider, but only if you’re going hard with your online assets. It gives you the ability to completely separate yourself from it. Some LLCs can be penetrated. That is why it is crucial to have the corporation form the LLC. Essentially, you want to be as far away from your LLC as possible. You really need to separate your online business from you. Anything that makes money is a target.

Online opportunities are just going to grow. If you set yourself up legally to protect yourself and take tax benefits, then when your channel takes off, you are prepared.

Another way for you to protect your online business is to treat it like an online business. There are so many entanglements on the horizon, it is stupid. Here are a few other tips.

If you’re on YouTube and you have a following, expect the lawsuits to come. I am not a legal professional. I am simply sharing with you more than likely what is going to happen based on my experiences.

People are going to hack your Twitter account. Twitter is money. If you’ve got a million followers. That’s money. If you’re on Instagram and you have several hundred thousand followers, that’s money. If you’re on YouTube and you have several million views, that’s money. What do we know? People follow the money.

You need to start protecting yourself and your interests today. Don’t wait. Don’t sit on this.

The first time I got hacked I woke up and the shit was gone. It was on Urban Packrat. Fortunately, I was using Just Host at the time and I called them up. I was saving my site every day.  He just restored the site and everything came up in a matter of minutes. That’s when I realized I could suddenly be taken out of the frame by a hacker with no rhyme or reason.

Also, there are a lot of things you can do with your YouTube channels that you couldn’t do in the past. It’s mind blowing. You can create a YouTube channel and not make any money and actually save money. It’s sick. That’s just one of the benefits.

Being hacked woke me up. It happened in 2010. I was just completely caught off guard. I was just blown away at how easy it was. Then a guy told me where they got in and what they did. Then a few months later they came back, but I had my site saved and I just went ahead and uploaded it myself.

You could start a YouTube channel and within ten years, you could be somebody. YouTubers have so much reach. I noticed they can put out a book and have 400 reviews the first day. They can write a poor book and make money because of their reach and their following.

Marketing is about to change. People are becoming desensitized to ads. The only way you’re going to be able to reach people is through telling stories, content marketing and developing a tribe. It’s very, very powerful stuff. If you are set up for that, you can benefit like you would not believe. People will be able to make hundreds of thousands of dollars on one video if it goes viral.

With so much money at stake, hackers are going to target accounts to take over. It is easy to go into a YouTube account and change the owner. A hacker can take your YouTube account and then set up a new bank account, robbing you of your AdSense money.

While ownership is important, management and control of your accounts are just as important. That is why it is critical that you take precautions now to get set up and secure your online assets.

Right now, you have a lot of people in a heightened emotional state. I’ve learned this the hard way. You cannot use logic to deal with emotion. If you say anything that does not align with the narrative in their head, then you are the enemy. I’ve been the enemy a lot, so I’ve decided to talk to you folks who listen to this channel and who can think for yourselves. I’m going to give you a history lesson.

I believe that the surest path to respectability is to create your own economy. There are people who will disagree with me. I’ve got some historical evidence to prove my claim.

I started thinking about what group of people in the US has the most respectability, highest level of business ownership, highest income, and highest education level. What group of people is that? The answer is Asian, made up primarily of Chinese, Japanese and Korean people. Then there are the Philippine people. Let’s also add in the East Asians, which are the Indians.

Now how did it happen that these people have the highest business ownership percentages, and highest income and education levels? I’ll be 49 next month and I remember when being Asian in this country was not cool. I remember going back to the Archie Bunker timeframe and they used derogatory terms such as chink, and slant-eyed. Being Asian in the USA was not always a good thing. Now we applaud them. How did that change occur?

Economics has changed their position. A lot of those guys who married Asian women were kicked out of the family a few decades ago. They were disowned.

Here it is 2016, and Asians have all of these businesses. Indians have all these businesses. Why? Because they have learned that the surest path to respectability and power is economics. You cannot do shit without money. But you have people who think they can legislate the hearts and desires of people and it’s just not going to happen. The reality is you have to make yourself a valuable part of the economy. You have to make yourself a valuable part of society.

Let’s talk about the second group of people, Jewish people. A lot of people hate Jews. Have you noticed, you don’t see the derogatory language like you used to. If you say something anti-Semitic on TV as a reporter, you just lost your job. If you’re an actor and you say something anti-Semitic or against homosexuals, you just lost your job. Why did you lose your job? Because these people have economic power.

Now I’m going to tell you a story of corporate racism that has a strange fucking twist. It was my last job as an office furniture salesperson. There was this woman who worked in the office who was clearly a racist. There was no doubt about it. She looked at me like…I could just spit on you. It was what I call the “southern nice racism.” There were all of these reason why she would not do what she was supposed to do. I was the salesperson and she was staff. I was at a higher level than her.

Over time and after the owner talked to her, she started doing her job. She was still a racist. Let’s be real clear about that. She just started doing her job and treating me with the respect I had earned.

Times passes and I leave the firm. She knew that I was a producer. She saw that I was a hard worker. Once again, let me say that she is still probably a racist to this very day. After I called her out, we developed a workable relationship where we tried to respect each other.

After I left and I was doing my own thing, I get this email from her. She said, “I hear you have your own business and things are going well.” She mentioned that they had lost a contract to me. While I am reading her email, I am wondering why she sent it. Then I get some more emails from her. She’s kind of softened me up, right?

The next thing I know, this racist sends me her resume. That blew my fucking mind. Let’s just deconstruct that. She’s still a racist. Self-preservation and economic sufficiency are more important than racism. She saw that I could get the job done and her racist ass was willing to work for me because she knew I could bring the money in. The point is her racism did not prevent her from seeing what I brought to the table.

Once you get your fucking economy together, even racists will work for you when you’re black. A homophobe will work for a homosexual if they have a good business. Even men who hate women will work for you if you have a bumping ass business. Most people don’t have what it takes to be an owner or a boss. Most people are followers.

Once you establish yourself as a leader and a boss, then they will follow you even though they have these racist, homophobic, sexist mindsets because they need that money. If you can give people jobs, you become so fucking powerful. That’s my whole viewpoint on this thing.

Understand these people still don’t like you, but they respect you. I would rather be respected than liked. Power is created, earned or it is taken. It’s not ever given away.

I do believe those with the most education make the most money. That brings me to the question, what is education. I believe my self-education and financial education will knock a lot of people out of the frame because they can’t see the world the way I do. They may have a high GPA and have done well in the group study, but a lot of them don’t know how to sell to the customer. That’s where the money happens.

This is another thing about creating your own economy. When you create your own economy, you create a larger picture of what you should be doing. There were people hating. There were people being racists towards me on YouTube. I didn’t participate in that party because I am an owner. I am a boss. These haters are like gnats or bugs that I flick off my shoulder.

I just kept building my own thing and eventually the haters just imploded because they took their eye off the ball. They were putting their time and energy into fuckery. Where your time and energy are is where your money goes or comes from.

You have all this distraction. People are upset. I don’t even try to talk to these people anymore because I have experienced the benefits and the respectability that comes from creating your own economy. It comes from creating a business.

$84,000 per month, that is one hell of a number, isn’t it? Did you know that $84,000 per month times 12 is a million dollars a year? That’s simple math, right? Men lie. Women lie. Numbers never lie.

There’s a lot of talk about creating million-dollar businesses online. But, there’s not much talk about the process. In this Hustler’s Kung Fu drop, I’m going to give you the process and some methodologies on how you can make a million dollars a year.

We’re going to start with you. You have a service or you have a product or you’re like me, an information marketer. You’ve got something that you’re putting out into the world, right? Whatever that price point is, I want you to take it and divide it into a million dollars.

I’m starting a t-shirt business myself. I have a two-year plan. Let’s go with some basic numbers. Let’s start with a $25 t-shirt. Let’s go with a million-dollar goal. You take the million and you divide it by 25. So, that’s 40,000 shirts. We’re not done yet.

Now we’re going to divide 40,000 by 12. That’s going to give you 3,333 shirts per month. Then you’re going to divide that by 4. That equals 833 shirts per week. Then you divide that by 7 and that equals 199 shirts per day. That’s not even profit; that’s just gross sales.

If you want to create this business, you have to get real. Now I’m going to say something that will make the “follow your passion” people jump all over me. But, I don’t give a fuck. I really don’t care. All passions do not equate to million-dollar businesses. They just don’t.  

It’s about audience. It’s about marketplace. It’s about who is going to buy your stuff. T-shirts are a multi-billion-dollar business. The way I am going to do t-shirts, I know not that many people are going to buy them. I’m doing it because I want to do it and it’s fun.

If you’re doing it to make money or create a legacy, you have to retrain your brain and start looking at business differently. You have to say, there’s what I want to do and there’s what will bring me the money. It becomes really, really hard because everyone is encouraging you to leave your job, start a business and follow your passion. I know a bunch of people who are doing that and I know a bunch of people who are fucking struggling.

Now, you will see someone who is following their passion and they’re making a lot of money. The late, great Paul Harvey used to say…”and that’s the rest of the story.” That’s what you have to ask yourself when you see these people, what’s the rest of the story. When I look at people on YouTube or a website, I don’t just look at the numbers. I look at the connections and connect the dots.

Some people are neighbors with the right person. You never know unless you ask and you start to look and you begin to understand how business works. That’s very, very important.

That’s enough about that. Let’s just talk about how you can make $84,000 a month consistently and create that first million-dollar business. Number 1 – you’ve got to look at your product mix. You’ve got to look at your audience and what people will buy. You also have to consider what you’re capable of fulfilling.

When I was a reseller, I used to be one of those eBay, Amazon guys. The bottleneck was me. I had a partner. Then it got to the point where the bottleneck was us. We had to buy time which meant we had to  hire employees.

There’s this fantasy that you can make all of this money, work from your phone and never hire anybody or talk to anyone and make all this money. Will someone do it? Probably.  Has someone done it? Yep. There’s one person I know who has.

New business people probably don’t do it. The one guy I know who did it has 20 years of experience. People will say, see, he made a million dollars a year by himself.

This is the thing. Today, I had to do something at the bank. I’m running around like crazy. I did not have my wallet. I didn’t have my ID. I went in there and I was like, let me try, right? You never know. So, I go in. The girl said “Hi. How are you doing? I haven’t seen you in a while.” I explained my situation. She said, “It’s ok. I know who you are.” Boom. I got my stuff done.

That shows you how important relationships are. The manager was right there and didn’t even bat an eye. If I had tried to do that and they didn’t know me, they would have told me I had to go get my ID.  That’s the power of relationships. Relationships are just very, very powerful.

Most internet marketers make most of their money on relationships not on the shit they sell you. I know I’m not supposed to say that, but that’s the game. Do this. When you’re out here on the internet marketing trail and you start getting on this list and everybody seems to know everybody at a certain level. You’re on eight, nine, twelve, fifteen lists, right. You’re getting offers. You keep seeing the same person all over. You’re not being taught to go out and form joint venture partnerships. You’re being taught to follow your passion.

Go back into your memory banks and think of all the people you look up to. See how many of them did their product launch all by themselves using the tools they tell you to use. It’s not that many. It’s something for you to think about.

Alright, you’ve got your audience. You’ve got your product and your fulfillment. You can start with what you have, but you have to understand that you have to push.

Going back to my storage auction days. Your business can only grow as large as the container you set it up in. So, if your container is only a one-man operation, you’re only going to go so far. So, if you want to build a seven-figure business, know from day one, that you have to hire someone. The sooner you hire someone and maintain an employee, the better off your business will be and the faster it will grow.

You need the right product mix and the right price point, and you need employees.
