How To Make Money Online Selling Books And Courses In 2017

How To Make Money Online Selling Books And Courses In 2017

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

In this presentation, I’m going to tell you how to make a lot of money selling books and courses online.

In 2009, I wrote a book, Making Money A to Z with Self-storage Unit Auctions and the book did really really well which prompted me to create a course, which also did really well.

The problem is… I did the course off of my website and as you start to scale-up, you start running into problems.

That prompted me to look for solutions. One of the solutions I looked into was Udemy. I signed up for the platform and I immediately had problems. I was creating courses my own way. Udemy wants you to create courses in a very standard and formal way so when one of the clients comes to the courses and goes from course to course, there is a similar feel. That makes sense. I totally get that.

It was frustrating for me. But I went ahead and did it. You can’t have your courses as long as you want them.

A new thing with Udemy that did not happen when I was there is that Udemy changed the rules where you could not price your course above a certain point. This happened after I stopped hosting stuff there. I left the site because I got frustrated. What you see is what’s here. I mean, because the thing is – I can’t take it down. It’s still here. I know one course was $300 and Udemy killed the price.

It’s pretty interesting. They will make the thumbnails and stuff for you, so that does work. I’m just telling you about my experience. People have made tons of money with them, but I wasn’t one of them.

I went to Thinkific.com. They are not paying me to say this. This is hands down the best solution I have found. I’ve not tried everything. I looked at Teachable. I looked at other things. In terms of flexibility, if you don’t have a big course, there are other solutions out there. But if you have a robust course, this is your thing.

I have maybe 120 hours on this site. It loads really quickly.

As we go forward, your online courses are going to have to be indistinguishable from a college course. That’s where we are heading.

Many people have the framework. They have curriculum courses and know how to put stuff together, which is nice. As someone who has done this since 2010, the most important thing you need to focus on is your audience and traffic. How are you going to get traffic?

One of the reasons I went with Udemy briefly was I thought I could get traffic from them. I probably got 20 sales. The majority of the sales were from the traffic I sent there. That’s where things became problematic, because of the way they track stuff. If a person visited Udemy before they bought your course, even if you were the one who sent them to the course, Udemy would get half of your money. I was like… Whoa! That upset me.

I left because of the inflexibility. I wasn’t getting students from the pool. It wasn’t working for me. Then when I did my own thing, my income went up by 30 times what I was doing before.

I was also here. Like I said, I like Gumroad. I still have a lot of books and stuff there. I’m not moving them anywhere. It’s just the site doesn’t load as fast as I would like. There’s issues with the catalog because I have so many things, right? So, I just left it alone.

When you create courses online and have to direct traffic, you have to be careful of where you are directing your traffic. This is something I have learned.

When I focus and direct traffic to one spot, it works out amazingly well. But, when you are directing traffic to several sites, it gets to be really crazy.

If you want to make a lot of money selling online courses and books, your first concern is who is going to buy it. That’s the first thing you need to think about. Sometimes, you have people who have experience and they’re really good doing this task or they have experience in this career field, but there’s not enough people online to generate income. That can just be the reality.

When people say, they want to sell courses online, I asked them if they have done their research to be sure there are enough people online to pay them for their services.

So many people start writing a course or a book and they get their Facebook page together. They start Tweeting and they have no clue if there are enough people in their bucket to support their project. Often, they have no idea. This kills many people, whether you are doing a YouTube channel or blogging, or vlogging. It’s all about if there’s enough people who are interested in what you are doing to be sure you will make money.

I had a video that tracked very well and I made a lot of money. The bigger issue was – I didn’t set it up correctly.

The problem was I did not set it up correctly. There were two groups of people that came to the video. There was one group of folks trying to be efficient who wanted to know how to start a business. They were interested in how to do a lean startup. They had money, but they were looking to be more efficient with their resources. That was maybe 5 or 10 percent of the people.

The other 90% had no damn money whatsoever. I created a video that’s doing very well in terms of getting views, driving traffic and drawing an audience that doesn’t have the money to start a business.

Just because you start a business with no cash doesn’t mean it’s not going to be expensive. Your time is the most important resource you have. So, if you waste three months, nine months or two years on trying to start it with no money, you could have gotten a part-time job and got the money in a month to find out if it wasn’t going to work or not.

You’re sitting there working and slaving away for years on something that was never going to work anyway. I see that everywhere. It’s really, really bad.

You have to learn how to generate traffic. There’s only three ways you’re getting traffic.

  1. Organically – which is building inbound marketing content so you can get leads.
  2. Paid traffic – which is paying Facebook, Google, Bing or somebody to get traffic.
  3. Influence traffic – which is getting referral traffic

For me, organic traffic is better. From me to you, if you’re going to do this, it’s going to take time. I’m talking months or years. If you’re going to circumvent that, it is going to take money. You are going to need money and guidance.

If you want to put together some stuff and sell it online, here are some tips for you. Depending on who your crowd is, you might want to tighten your game up locally before you go online.

Start locally. Put some content out. YouTube is an inbound marketing device. A podcast is an inbound marketing device. You are going to have to pay for traffic or you are going to have to start going to events to get to know people for client work and referrals.

It’s an amazing opportunity that we have right now.

The Mother Fucker Principle – Truth and Ego

The Mother Fucker Principle – Truth and Ego

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

I’m going to give you an example of one of the biggest, hardest journeys that you will have to make. It is learning to appreciate and act on the truth. It’s very hard because social narrative and other factors can easily get in the way.

I’m going to give you an example. Let’s take Facebook video. As of the recording of this video, Amazon has launched video. I think they will do well on their platforms. I do not think they will dethrone or replace YouTube. Now, this is why. Because I am operating as a technician – I do a lot of video. I have 3000 plus videos and am growing, operating from a position of truth.

I just left the gym. I was watching videos on Facebook and was also watching videos on YouTube. I go to YouTube to learn how to do something or I go to YouTube for a better production experience. I also go to YouTube because you can “search.” These things are not on Facebook yet. The search on Facebook is horrible.

When I was putting out video about storage auctions, I told the truth. I knew storage auctions were hard. They were brutal. It wasn’t easy money. It was good money.

Here it is eight years later and there are many people who started on my journey with me as an internet marketer and they’re still here because I operated from a position of truth and I didn’t try to get over on people.

Now, this is the thing you have to understand. This is the Mother Fucker principle #3 – Your ego will not acknowledge the truth. This can be a serious detriment.

Let’s use math as an example.

1+1 = 2 here

5+5 = 10 in Italy

10+10 + 20 in Africa

20+20 = 40 in outer space

No matter where you do this, it is a common truth.

Many people think math is the only thing like that. There are many things that are just as black and white, but your ego will not allow you to accept it. One of the reasons I have gone very heavy on video and audio is because it takes me five or 6 times longer to write content because I’m dyslexic and I have some other issues.

But, I can do a video faster than most people can write. Accepting this truth about myself and my deficiencies – I can actually put out more content.

Somebody commented that there were grammatical errors on my scheduling page for my consults. I hadn’t looked at it in about a week or two, and it’s going to be updated soon. That page has made me $20K this month. So, operating from the truth, do I go freak out and fix this immediately or do I continue to advertise that page and serve people who want my services.

See, this is another truth. There are a group of people in your life who will tell you bad things about yourself because they love you and they want you to be better. There’s a small group of people like that. Most people who are telling you something bad about yourself are saying it for an internal ego boost.

If I were to do Facebook or Amazon video heavy, it would only be because it’s in my best interest. Right now, I think neither one of these platforms is in my best interest based upon my plans for my companies. It could be great for someone else. I believe that based on putting my ego to the side and really looking at it.

You’ve got to get out of your own way. Years ago, I was listening to The Power from Within by Tony Robbins. There was this one task where Tony says to stand up and take your hand and reach back as far as you can and mentally mark the spot on the wall. So, I did it. Then he said to pause the cassette, which I did. Then he said to see yourself going further mentally and do it again. And I did. So, I went ahead and I did that, and I went much further.

We automatically limit ourselves to protect ourselves. We don’t go as far as we can because we feel we may be hurt. We may be injured, when most of the time, that’s not true. Most of the limitations we place in our lives are self-induced.

I can tell you that there are times when you push hard and things will break. I know this for a fact. I’ve broken my spirit. I’ve broken my body. I’ve been extremely poor. So, I know where my limits are.

Once you know where your limits are, you can gently expand them and not break yourself. But, if you don’t know where your limits are, it’s hard to know if you are going as hard as you can.

The mind is a muscle. But, unlike the muscles in your arms and legs, your mental muscles can become way stronger than your physical muscles. But, similar principles are present.

Let’s say you are weightlifting, squatting five days a week. You can’t squat at full capacity five days a week. You’ve got to have a program working as hard as you can, then you ease up and start working at a lower level working within your capacity, so you can explode out of your capacity later. They are called cycles. You should add 30 or 50 pounds on your squat after your cycle. You test yourself so you know where your limits are.

I had to tell myself I was a very fucked up human being at one point. I was on the phone with my mother and I was homeless. She said… “You can come home.” At that moment, that is when I became a man. I grew up. I knew at that point if I moved back home with my mother – I would probably be there until she died.

That scared me. That put a lot of fear in me. But, I accepted the truth about myself. I operated from a position of truth. I told my mother I wasn’t moving home and that I would figure it out on my own.

A lot of people look at my struggle and living in the boarding house and say I wouldn’t want to do that. But, I wouldn’t trade that experience for the world, because I know my limits. I’ve been tested. I was poor. I was hungry. I needed dental work. That’s one of the reasons I’m such a mother fucker today. Because I’ve been tested.

Only by operating from the truth and accepting the truth and fucking your ego will you get to a place where you are so mentally strong that people can’t fuck with you.

Sometimes when you operate from truth and push your ego to the side, there is a delay in benefit. For example, if I went back on Facebook it would be an immediate ego boost, but I’d be off point. That’s not where my money comes from.

You must operate from the truth or you are delaying your success.

How To Start A Business Today – What You Earn Is What You Deserve

How To Start A Business Today – What You Earn Is What You Deserve

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

A common issue that comes up is the question about what you deserve versus what you earn. For many people, that concept is a problem. It’s problematic in a major way, because you hear it all the time.

Let’s take you, for instance, the people watching this video. I don’t deserve your views. I have to EARN your views. If I’m not witty, funny, serious, wise or whatever makes you come back to the channel, you’re going away.

That’s very, very fair. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. It’s a very equitable playing field in my mind. But for many people, there’s something wrong with that because they feel entitled to your views. They feel entitled to your time. I look at it as…I have to come up with videos. I have to discuss certain things to earn your views.

When you buy one of my books or join one of my courses, I have to earn your money. That’s how I look at it.

When you are in that space where you feel that you are entitled to certain things, it is a very, very ugly trap. It creates a lot of problems. It creates a lot of unhappiness.

One of the biggest lies on the planet is…”I went to college, therefore I deserve a great job. I have college credentials and skills, therefore I deserve a certain amount of money.” No, you don’t.

What you will earn is what the marketplace will pay for whatever skill sets you have to offer the marketplace. That’s what’s going to happen.

Sometimes I figure that I am the therapist of entrepreneurs because I’ve been there. It’s a lonely thing to be an entrepreneur, especially if you are in a family where people tend to frown on that type of thing.

I was talking to one of my clients, and she was talking about what she deserved. I always get into life goals because one thing you should do is get your life goals together before you get your business goals together, so they will mesh.

If you don’t do this, you can have a very successful business and be miserable because your business does not facilitate your life goals.

Then she said to me…” I find it challenging to date.”

I asked, “Why?”

At this point, I didn’t know what she looked like. It turns out, she’s an attractive woman. She’s forty. I know women don’t want to hear this, but your value declines, the older you get. Hate me if you want to. It’s true.

She said “I deserve a good man.”

Typically, what you are as a person is what you will draw into your life. When I am full of fuckery, and I’m about bullshit, I will draw exactly that into my life. Anytime I am with someone that is inappropriate for me, it’s because I have inappropriate behavior.

I told her, “If you are attracting bad guys, it’s something in you. I gave her my speech about what you earn is what you deserve.

I said…” I don’t know what you look like, but I am going to take your word you are attractive. You are clearly smart. Apparently, you are real successful and you are going to be even more successful.”

I continued to explain to her. “Most men don’t give two shits about how much money you make. If you are attractive to that guy, that’s enough. I have had friends who have married women they didn’t really know because she was hot. That’s serious. This is for men who are not evolved.

I told her, “This is what you do. You get girlie. Be more feminine.”

Every woman who is a friend of mine who has listened to my advice to the letter has gotten a man or gotten married. Why? Because I am a dude.

This is where women go wrong. You use the same criteria in your head that you use to evaluate men, and expect men to judge you that way. We do not.

I told her, “If you want to have a relationship with a man, you are going to have to change who you are.” I know people are throwing shit at their phones and computers right now because I said that.

Because, the thing is, if what you are is good enough, why don’t you have it? Because, it’s not. I’m telling you, I’ve done this myself. When I am in my higher self, the women that walk into my life or that pop up at Publix, the gas station, Target or wherever are fucking amazing.

When you get your inner world together, your outer world will reflect that. No one is immune to this shit.

There are many people that feel that because they breathe, the world owes them.

Like this thing with the minimum wage, it is not going to work out. Raise it all you want to, it’s going to cause some dire consequences.

I want you to think about what you’ve really earned in life. In the book I’m working on, The 50 Laws of Hustling, one of the laws will tell you not to build a kingdom in a thimble. This is what people do.

People will take this event or circumstance, something that in the grand scheme of things is very small and they will build a kingdom in it. Then, when that thimble is rocked, their world is rocked. That’s what my client was doing with the whole relationship thing.

Women, if you want a dude, here’s the three Fs.

Be his friend.

Feed him.

Fuck him.

Now the first one is the hardest one. This is being a dude’s friend. He can tell you any old thing and you don’t lose your affection for him. That will actually have the dude open up to you like he’s never opened up to anyone before.

But if the minute he says something you don’t like, you jump all over him, he’s going to lock down. He isn’t going to tell your ass anything relevant again. He’s just going to fuck you until some better chick comes along.

It’s going back to the idea of what you earn is what you deserve.

A lot of men want to get married. Men are afraid of marrying the wrong woman. That’s the big scare.

When you are earning your life, something else happens. You will bring other people into your life who also try to earn. You will start to subconsciously reject people who are not appropriate for your life.

When you earn your life, you change who you are as a person. If your life is not what you want it to be, then you need to change. As someone who wants to earn their life, there are some steps you must be willing to take.

Number 1 – You must be accountable for your fuckups.

So, understand, to really earn your life, it’s going to take you on a different route than the safe, predictable, don’t-rock-the-boat” path.

One of the tenets of my life philosophy is “I’d rather beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.”

I would rather fuck-up than not try because I fear fucking up. No. I’m not fearless. I do a lot of stuff and there’s a lot of fear in my belly.

That’s how you move forward. That’s how you build a life of design and intent.

How To Make A Million Dollars A Year On Craigslist

How To Make A Million Dollars A Year On Craigslist

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

First of all, this will not be easy. This will be hard. It will be a hassle. But, the money is on the table. So, this is for the rugged and the brave.

This works across various business models. This will work for a service business. This will work for a physical product business.

The first thing you’ve got to do is pick a category. You will not be able to do this unless you have a team. If you have a team, you can get away with this.

Pick one category and dominate it. I don’t care if it’s furniture; that was the category I was in. I don’t care if it’s cars. I don’t care if it’s computers. You’ve got to pick one and own it.

Alright, your second step is you many need space. It means you need to make an investment. If you are going to rent a space, get yourself an LLC and set yourself up properly.

Also, if you need licenses, you need to get those. You can only sell so many cars, for example, without a broker’s license. Or if you sell car parts, you need a salvage license.

The third thing and really the most important is to create a marketing plan.

Now you’ve got to make a decision about whether you want to be a buyer or a seller. Many people want to be sellers, but they don’t know what to buy. If you know how to buy really well, it helps you sell better. You have to figure out what your position is.

The real money is in the marketing plan.

________

There’s an old saying that you make your money when you buy. What that means is the price you pay when you buy does not change. Market conditions can change. The price you hope to sell it for can change. But, the price that you bought it for is carved in stone.

In my storage auction business, I always overbought. There was anywhere from five to twenty units that needed to be unloaded and bought into the warehouse. I was always pushing.

So, I just sat there at my desk and I started writing ads. I noticed when I wrote 30 to 40 ads per day, I’d get more feedback. I noticed that one to five paragraphs work really well on Craigslist and longer ads of 750 to 1000 words also work, depending on what you’re selling.

I started playing around with the advertising. I placed an ad under the Garage Sale section and I’d get calls that day. It opened up my eyes to Craigslist. I did like $3K on Craigslist that day. They were people I’d never met. They either paid through PayPal or gave me one of their credit cards.

I kept posting and reached a threshold. Under 100 ads, it was hit or miss. There would be good days and bad. But, when I consistently posted 100 ads, we would dominate a section of Craigslist for three or four hours and the sales would explode.

We got to 3K, 4K, 5K and up to $7K per day on Craigslist.

You will not be successful posting one or two ads a day. If you are on Craigslist now and you’re posting one or two ads a day, you need to be posting 30 to 50 ads a day. If you are posting 10 ads a day, you need to be posting 80 to 100 every day.

How do you accomplish this? Because, Craigslist will limit you. If you are in certain categories, you can only post five ads per Craigslist account. So, let’s do the math. If you want to post 50 ads a day and you know you are going to be limited to five ads a day per category, then you need 10 accounts. That’s pretty simple.

You can use Google Voice to voice confirm a Craigslist ad now.

You’re going to need 10 Craigslist accounts or 20 if you’re going to do 100 ads a day. You’re going to need 20 email addresses and 20 phone numbers.

You need to learn how to copywrite. Now I use Craigslist extensively for furniture, vacuums and physical products.

Fast forward to when I started writing erotica. I used Craigslist to test a lot of copy for those books. I used those accounts and the same marketing plan that I used for furniture for my writing samples. The writing samples that tested the most successful on Craigslist based on hits were turned into a book and put on Kindle. The books that did really well on Craigslist did really well on Kindle.

Question: Is reselling a good idea to start with?

Answer: Any business that you want to start with is a good business to start. Everything works if you know how to execute. Some things work better than others. Some things are quicker. It really depends on your resources and what you’re good at, and how much money you want to make.

Question: Would advertising services such as household moving services work the same way as the ads for physical products?

Answer: Yes, because every day someone is looking for moving services.

Here’s the thing. Craigslist is a rolling posting system. Every day, someone is posting something else. If you are in a service business, you’ve got someone posting.

But, if you have a marketing plan and you’re posting 30,40,50, 60 ads a day, you’re going to catch that person that is looking. You always need to be advertising.

If you get into reselling hard, it will teach you how to sell, which is an invaluable skill.

Credit cards will increase your sales. Use Square or get yourself a merchant account.

Your infrastructure is going to determine your income. If your infrastructure is small, your income is going to be small.

The amount of money you can make on Craigslist is amazing, if you have a marketing plan.

You can buy stuff on Craigslist and then sell it on Craigslist. It happens all the time.

You’ve got to scale.

You have to treat it like a business from day one.

The Dollars You Throw Away – How To Take Advantage Of Opportunities

The Dollars You Throw Away – How To Take Advantage Of Opportunities

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

I tell you. Life is a strange, strange animal. In this episode, we’re going to talk about how to spot and work opportunities. For some reason, there are many people that think the American Dream is dead. They think that things have gone to shit, etc… Let’s chop it up, shall we.

As we jump into this, I want you to think about some stuff. What exactly is opportunity? There are many people who become immediately upset if opportunity isn’t easy. Let’s focus on that word, “easy.” Many people have been conditioned to believe that they should get great things at a great price.

Part of that mix is opportunity. I remember when I was working on my first book. I was talking to a friend. I told him that I was working 10and 12 hours a day. The person I was talking to could not understand. They were like.. ”Why don’t you start the storage auction business again? Get back in that. That’s something you know.”

It was one of those moments I felt constricted because someone was trying to stuff me in a box that made them feel more comfortable.

I get on YouTube all the time and it’s … “You are a storage auction guy. You’re supposed to do this.”

I am supposed to be true to myself. If that means making a pivot or chasing a dream, that’s what I’m going to do. My friend and I went back and forth and I could tell that they were frowning on me for having the audacity, for having the clarity to say… “I want to write a book.”

I didn’t really think it was that big of a deal because it’s something I always wanted to do. I knew many people who had done it. I have a lot of friends who are writers and I was like…. “I can do this.”

What I failed to understand on that day was how people are afraid of change. You would think, this is my life, how does that impact other people? I’m making change in my life, that really shouldn’t be a problem for them.

Something happens when you make personal changes in your life. These changes scare people. They move people from their comfort center. I didn’t realize that me saying.. “I’m not going to do the storage auction business again and I’m going to write a book” would be so threatening to someone. The narrative is: you should do what people expect you to do.

There are folks who are living a life that was designed by others. They’re living their life for other people and they’re miserable.

You are probably saying to yourself, “What does this have to do with opportunity?”

It has everything to do with opportunity. Opportunity is a choice. It’s not supposed to be easy. Sometimes opportunity is easy. I was walking down the street one day as a kid and saw a corner of some paper money on the ground and picked it up. It was a $20 bill covered in mud. I found a little puddle and washed that bad boy off and I had myself a great weekend.

It was opportunity. It wasn’t clean, but it was still money.

It’s taken me some time to understand this journey. Because I do YouTube videos and train people, I meet a lot of people and see certain patterns emerging. Sometimes I see my former self in people.

In 1997, 1998, 1999, those were some really, really rough years for me. I was dating this girl. I was working in this lab in a hospital. This drug representative comes in. OMG! She was gorgeous. She had to have some blood work done. I was totally 100% unprofessional. After I drew her blood, I ask her out. She said. “Ok.”

So, we’re going out and my life takes a few turns and I actually end up where I don’t have a car. My loser mindset thoughts were… This is my girl and we’re dating and she knows I don’t have a car, and she’s got two. She should let me drive the other one, right?

Now, let’s really look at this. She has a job. She bought the car. She had a company car. It had nothing to do with me That’s where my loser mindset was. I got mad at her and broke up with her because she would not allow me to use her car. She paid for that car with her own money before she ever met my sorry ass and I totally ignored the fact that she was dating me.

I made maybe one-fourth or what she did, because she made over six figures. She never said anything. Now looking back, I remember her as a beautiful woman, great spirit, hard worker, established and cool as shit. Because I was a loser mentally, I fucked it up. She was an opportunity. She was the type of chick you marry. Because I was hung up on some entitlement bullshit, I let her go. It took me many years to realize that I was stupid as fuck.

I tell you this story of my misgivings of my bad mindset because I was in a horrible place back then.

No one owes you anything!

Opportunity isn’t always going to be dressed in a nice suit and tie with shiny shoes. Sometimes the best opportunity is going to come into your life covered in shit, mud, blood, sweat and tears. They’re going to be scary.

When I first got into the storage auction business, it took me two weeks to recognize the opportunity. I was a little arrogant back then. I was in a corporate sales job before that, selling $50K and $100K deals. So, I get out there and I see these rag, tag Deliverance-looking people and I thought, this is going to be easy.

Those motherfuckers ate my ass alive for the first three months. But, I stuck it out. After two weeks, I realized the opportunity. It came to me when I was cleaning out this unit that Rodney the Rat had shit all over. There was all of this crap. I got the unit for $5. It was horrible. It stunk. I’d filled up several huge trash bags just 5 feet into the unit. I was ready to throw in the towel. Then, I just manned up. Then, when we got six feet into the unit, we went from ashy to classy. It was like two different units.

There was a beautiful bedroom set, a nice dining room table and some jewelry. The unit was so good, it made the month. At that point, it clicked. “Oh…this is how this works.”

When you are looking at an opportunity, you’ve got to ask yourself… “What is the worst thing that can happen?”

Then, you have to asked yourself, “What do I want?”

The third question you have to asked yourself is… “What price am I willing to pay?”

Another question you want to ask yourself is… “How long can I wait?”

You’ve got to pick something and work for it for a few months, six months or even a year. You have to learn that opportunity is not always nice.

I can tell you that with a plan, hard work, and timelines; you can do more in a year than many people do in a lifetime.

The Law Of Attraction – How To Get Anything You Want

The Law Of Attraction – How To Get Anything You Want

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

In this video, I’m going to teach you how to get everything that you want. And, I mean everything. The last few months, we’ve been talking about some stuff. I’ve been giving you guys tactics, strategies, and processes to start businesses, and I keep seeing the pushback in the comments.

I forgot a very important rule. I don’t care what you give a person, until they think they can do it and they believe it, not much is going to happen.

It’s like dating a chick with low self-esteem. You can tell her that she’s beautiful. You can treat her very well. But, because of her low self-esteem, it’s not going to penetrate to that hind brain. She’s going to continue to operate and behave in a manner that is inconsistent with what you’re trying to bring to the table. I’ve done it a few times, and it is a really ugly dynamic, and that’s where a lot of you are.

Someone put in the comments, I guess poor people can’t afford mentors. I was like….”Wo. Wo. Wo. Here we go again.” There are a ton of mentors in libraries. Go to the library. Read books. Learn.

When I talk to you about the tactics and what people are doing, it is coming from something I have observed, something I know to be true. I will get amazing pushback, because people don’t believe they’re capable. It’s that simple.

It’s not a matter of how smart you are. It’s not a matter of your resources. It doesn’t matter. What matters is how you think. I’m going to tell you how I use the law of attraction, because there are a few laws I use.  I’m going to talk about one in this video.

#1 Dwell. Think. Groom. Dream. Talk about what you want. Talk about it all of the time. Believe you can get it.

Some of you who have taken the course, Scripted Days – that is the law of attraction, action and visualization.

Now, you can’t get what you want unless you know what you want. Then, you must believe with certainty that you are going to get it. That’s where a lot of you go wrong.

Many people think that for someone to have, that it takes away from somebody else. That’s why there is this fanatical hate of people who are wealthy.

There’s no correlation between someone being a billionaire and you being fucking poor. There’s no correlation. Thank God.

First of all, you believe in a zero-sum game, right? Then the second thing that happens is you don’t try. Even when there is proof that these strategies work, people don’t want to do it.

Back in 2009 – when I’m going to start a YouTube channel to sell my book, I got a lot of discouragement. People said… “That won’t work. That’s not how people sell books. I’m never going to Kindle. This YouTube thing is not going to work.”

Yeh. It worked. It’s so crazy how many people accept failure before they even try.

That’s the poverty mindset. Here’s the thing. The law of attraction doesn’t just work for positive things, that’s where most folks go wrong. Ah. The law of attraction is all about … “I’m going to get money. I’m going to get paid. I’m going to find the love of my life.” The law of attraction means the things you dwell on become your life. If you are focusing on the fact that you are poor versus focusing on factors that can make you wealthy, that’s going to be your reality.

I did a video and it was amazing how many people fought me when I said that I refuse to accept things the way they are. You know what? I’m a black man in America, right? And, I can get paid. I can make money. White people are going to buy from me. Asian people are going to buy from me. Black folks are going to buy from me. I operate on that premise. I operate on that belief. And, damn Skippy – this shit happens.

I’ve had people fight me on that and tell me it’s just not going to happen. I’m sitting there, telling them… “That’s my reality dude. That’s my reality.”

Once again, when someone is immersed in the poverty mindset, it’s very hard for them to change course. So, for you to start getting the things you want, you must identify what you want. That’s simple enough, right? Many people feel shame if they want a Bentley.

Here’s a great example. I’ve heard people with the money say, “Oh. I’d never spend that much.” It’s not about the money. It’s not about being broke. It’s about how they appear to other people.

For all of you people who don’t have relationships, but who really want a relationship – start telling yourself… “I’m going to have a great relationship.” Start telling yourself that now. Don’t worry about who it is going to be with and all that other stuff.

Get in your mind that it is possible. Because there is a group of people who are thirty-something, forty-something, fifty-something and they don’t believe they can have a good relationship. They don’t believe they can attract people into their life who can make that shit come true.

I’ve had a few instances where I’ve attracted the wrong type of woman in my life, and some bad shit happened. But, instead of me going… “All women are fucked up,” I asked myself, “What did you do to draw that into your life?” “Where were you?”

One of these instances happened after my friend died and I was still grieving, so I wasn’t thinking correctly. Then I realized, Oh, damn, that’s how it happened. Ok. It didn’t happen before and it hasn’t happened since.

That’s how bullshit creeps into your life. Identifying and accepting your role gives you power to change that shit. As long as it’s someone else’s responsibility and you tell yourself you had nothing to do with it and that you are just a poor little victim, this shit is going to keep happening. With this mindset, you are going to keep drawing the wrong people in all relationships. It’s friendships. It’s business relationships. It’s everything. It happens because your mind isn’t where it needs to be.

To go after opportunities, you have to remind yourself.

#1 I can do this.

#2 Take copious action that is in alignment with that you want.

Then the third thing is: When shit doesn’t go right, ask yourself… “Where did I go wrong? “

Don’t blame somebody else. Seeing what you did to bring this negative stuff into your life gives you the power to fix shit.

You take the feedback and then go back and double your efforts.

Now, you believe you can get it.

You believe you deserve it.

You take action.

You will start to change your life.

You’ll start to get the things you want.

You’ll start to have the type of relationships you want.

Your money will start getting nice.

And it’s all because of the way you think and the way you act.

That’s the law of attraction.

That’s how I use it and that’s how it works.

Don’t List on eBay Until You Watch This Video

Don’t List on eBay Until You Watch This Video

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

You know how everybody is telling you to sell on Amazon and to sell on eBay. There’s all these courses and lessons and a lot of other things. I’m one of the few people who said No eBay, No Amazon.

Well it appears I am way smarter than I look, and I look pretty damn smart.

Welcome to Hustler’s Kung Fu – the channel for starting businesses and intermediate hustlers. If you like the content, be sure to subscribe. Go below and check out my other channels to help you make money in various ways.

So, let’s jump into the shit today, because this just tickles my funny bone like you wouldn’t believe. I was talking to my neighbor who used to work for eBay. I was just saying that I predicted what Amazon and eBay were going to do. That was before I knew he worked for eBay.

What I believe Amazon and eBay are doing is a Six Sigma type program because they don’t need all of these sellers. He said, “You’re absolutely right because I used to work for eBay. He said the poor sellers cost us five times every dollar we earned.”

They’re just too expensive. He was just going through this whole list of things. So, they are trying to get rid of the unprofessional sellers because they cost them money. He went on to explain that there are sellers with thousands of listings that sit on the site because they haven’t sold. They are just sitting there. This is chewing up resources.

So, what’s happened is we have reached the saturation point for bullshit for mediocre and average sellers. If you are an exceptional seller and you’re bringing something new to the platform, you are probably good to go. This problem isn’t about the person selling an Apple watch on the platform. You’re probably good to go. That kind of stuff is not really using a lot of resources on the platform. That’s in and out.

But for intermediate or for people who consider themselves to be professional sellers on eBay, they’re using up a lot of resources. They’re causing a lot of problems. He said that eBay customer service costs were five times that of Amazon. I thought that was very interesting.

Then it started to become clearer how smart I am. Yes. I’m gloating. I don’t really care. Here’s the thing. Right now, there are so many courses and academies for eBay and Amazon. You’re going to run into more problems trying to make more money on each site unless you become a professional seller, which is someone who takes exceptional pride in your listings, your shipping, your operation, and your presentation.

I will say that I’ve bought some stuff recently from eBay; and I’ve got to say the game has gone way up. I don’t get anything wrapped in a fish wrapper or something that comes in a McDonald’s bag anymore. I mean the stuff looks damn good.

It’s real interesting. I don’t even know what I’m going to call this video. This conversation was just so exciting. There is nothing like talking to someone who works in the belly of the beast.

He said. “Yep. Yep. That’s what’s going on.” He didn’t even say, “We’re feeling a lot of pressure from Walmart. We’re feeling a lot of pressure from Amazon.”

If you are costing Amazon or eBay money, they’re getting rid of you. Bye Bye. Bye Felicia, you’re out.

What many people don’t seem to understand is you’re looking at it from your perspective of …it’s not that much money that it is costing them. What you are missing is that this cost is spread across millions of sellers.

He kept calling sellers, customers. I thought that was real interesting, since they are sellers. He said customers think the only expense to the company is the listing. Well websites don’t just stay up and cost nothing. There is all kind of stuff going on, especially when you multiply the listings by millions or billions.

Now, that is just to help you guys out with some insight. Once I got it, I thought I need to share this with the people and let them know since everybody is always talking about eBay and Amazon. eBay and Amazon are full of mediocre and average sellers, and they have reached their limit.

Now, if you want to be a superstar, there’s plenty of room for you. I don’t care whether it is acting football, baseball, eBay, Amazon, YouTube; whatever, there’s always room for greatness. But if you just want to be average; well with that first mistake, you could be gone. That second mistake, you’re gone. It doesn’t take much.

To me, and this is the exact terminology I used with my neighbor … I told him “eBay and Amazon have a Six Sigma program.” As a corporate guy, he’s been through these types of programs. He’s like… “Yep, Yep. They are getting rid of you.”

When I did those videos, people said… “Glendon’s crazy. Glendon’s a hater.” They were actually putting together protocols to get rid of you because they don’t need you. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it. I love it when I’m right.

How do you handle this if you’ve got to do it?

I have clients and we’re working with some crazy stuff right now. With Amazon, you can lose that Buy Box very quickly, very easily.

With eBay, you must maintain certain standards.

My advice to you is going to sound very hypocritical or like a flip flop. Damn, I sound like Trump.

Get as big as fucking possible on both sites. The days of average sellers are over. There’s too much competition. There’s too many people who are vying for those resources.

So, if you’re going to do eBay, do eBay fucking hard. I mean, hard. You want to become a savage. That means getting a physical location. That means hiring people.

This is my prediction for the next five years. It’s going to be hard for the average person or the average seller to make good money.

You can always make bullshit money… money for a steak dinner or to pay a bill. For you to get to the 20K net profit months, you are going to have to be a professional. The sooner you realize that and start going hard, and understand that’s what it is going to take to really make good coin, the better off you’ll be.

Alright. This is Glendon. I’m here to help you. If you like the content of this channel and you should, be sure to subscribe.

Killing The Poverty Mindset

Killing The Poverty Mindset

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

What I am going to discuss today is killing and eradicating the poverty mindset. Before we jump into that, I should give you a warning. If you are weak, mentally unstable and scared little bitch in life, you may not want to listen to this podcast because it would offend your little scared bitch sensibilities.

When you speak of poverty, images come to mind. Images of the ghetto, poorly dressed people, people who can’t find a job and others. When I speak of poverty, I speak of the worst poverty of all, mental poverty.

Regardless of their resources, if you have mental poverty, your life will not be that good regardless of your intellect or anything else that is good in your life, because you’re operating from a position of lack. You are moving forward thinking you are going to be slapped back by life at every twist and turn.

Some people think this is pragmatic thinking. They are always saving for a rainy day. Here’s a bit of advice for you. Never, ever use that term in your life. Start saving for a sunny day. Start saving for a great day. Start saving for a wonderful day. You preprogram your mind for bullshit when you say things like that. That is part of the poverty mindset.

When you are living in a poverty mindset, you really just don’t get how great your life could be, because one thing about us as humans is that we crave control. We like comfort and security. We want things to be normal and predictable.

Those things can crush your life.

You have to learn to be open. That’s part of the abundance mindset. When you have a poverty mindset, you look at each situation and how it can harm you with more clarity and angst than how the situation might improve your life.

In 2009, July 17th, I made the decision to become a writer and publish a book. I did not really do a great deal of research. I said to myself… “This is the third time I’ve tried this.” I gave myself two years to make it work. The first year I had to get to a level of income. The second year, I had to really push it. Both years were successful, in spite of the fact that I made several massive mistakes in the world of publishing.

This is the “Abundant Mindset.” In the “Abundant Mindset,” when you don’t have something, you feel you can get it because it’s out there. With the poverty mindset, you feel that what you have is all you’re going to get. You try to be very judicious about how you use it or share it.

So, I was going along writing books, and it was just an accomplishment to get that first book done. It wasn’t pretty. It had this stinking green cover. I was really proud of it, because I set a goal and I finished it.

Aside from some editing and typos, the content was golden for the time. There was nothing like it on the market and the book did very well in spite of its flaws. The “Abundant Mindset” allowed me to put that book out there and deal with the critical feedback that came.

The content was so good that the people that bought my first book also bought the second, third, fourth and fifth book.

If I had the poverty mindset, that book would have never come out. I would have sat in the basement, grooming and working and twisting myself into a pretzel trying to make it perfect for an audience that I didn’t know or understand.

Because of the “Abundant Mindset,” I actually put it out there and got feedback. That feedback helped me write two other books that I had no intention of writing.

When you have the “Abundant Mindset” versus the poverty mindset, you can grow beauty, wealth and good things out of disaster. That’s the power.

But with the poverty mindset. It’s always about holding back. You try not to expose yourself or put too much out there.

The poverty mindset rears its ugly head in entrepreneurship a lot. You want to be an entrepreneur and you are a scared little bitch. Let me make sure you understand me. When I wrote my first book, I was scared. I was terrified. I could not sleep the night before it was to appear on Amazon. It was a mixture of excitement and worry.

Fear is a natural emotion. But when you allow the little bitch in you to keep you from moving forward, from daring to be different, from taking a chance – there’s plenty wrong with that.

It can change your life, if you go out on a limb.

I’ve started ten businesses. The first four were abject failures. On the fifth business, I learned some things and broke even. Businesses six through ten were profitable. The reason is because I never gave up.

You can’t allow failure to impede your progress in becoming the person you want to be.

You will fail. You will look bad. People will talk about you. They will laugh and point. You’ve got to deal with it. You have to become emotionally strong.

If you want to become an abundant mindset warrior, you have to make a few changes in your life. You have to stop allowing fear to hold you back.

Another way to kill the poverty mindset is to create a bold list of things you want to do. Some people call this a bucket list. I call it a “do list.” Instead of later, make it sooner.

Put a list together of everything you want to do. Once you get it together, prioritize it. Then take action. Make a plan on how to achieve that #1 thing and work down your list. No excuses.

Stop putting limitations on yourself. Too many people in this world will do it for you.

You must always continue to take action with all the bullshit that’s going to pop up in your life.

I want to explain something to you and it’s going to scare you. Whenever you do something new in your life, you stir up a different level of energy. The energy is so powerful, all types of shit starts to happen. Things just come out of the blue. When you do these energy changes, expect chaos. It’s a good thing. It’s a sign you’re moving in the right direction.

You can change your life in a matter of weeks if you have the courage to stick with it. You have to put some skin in the game.

In each of us, there is a huge power. Many of us have hit the “off” switch out of fear. You have thoughts. You have abilities. You start to use them and they scare you. Because success demands change. There is no way that you are going to be successful and remain the same person that you are.

You don’t have to knock someone else off to rise. In fact, as you rise, you want to bring as many people with you as you can.

The Truth About Starting A Business Online And Anywhere Else

The Truth About Starting A Business Online And Anywhere Else

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

Today, on the AM Hustle, we’ve got all kinds of stuff going on. I’ve been interviewing people and I’ve got resumes on my desk. We’ll talk about starting a business online and offline and a lot of other things.

I’m going to share some stuff behind the scenes. The last few weeks have been crazy. I’m going to start with yesterday. We had a bunch of interviews set up. People just didn’t show up or cancelled at the last minute. Some people even tried to get their own appointment times. Like one applicant said, “I’ll just go in at 10.” I said, “No. No, you won’t.”

This is the truth about starting a business. So many people think they can be instantly successful. Yesterday, I think three people showed up. Today, I think we have nine interviews scheduled. We’ll see how many show up.

I have three training platforms using Thinkific.  Business School for Hustlers isn’t working. I couldn’t add courses. We couldn’t add people. This has been going on for two weeks. I’m quite sure they’re going to fix it. In the meantime, it is really creating a lot of problems and I’m going to Teachable.

The camera pans across the new office. I keep saying that 90 % of the business is out here, not online. That’s why I got this office. I’ve got a client. This area is going to be for the client’s people. There’s going to be a customer service person there. There’s going to be a salesperson there.

This is going to be Mack Daddy Media. All of this is going to change. The reason I’m doing this stuff is there’s so much money out here.

If you watch this channel, you are going to make money, if you do the work. There’s too many examples of that. But, you’ve got to put in the work. That’s the thing. You’ve got to put in the work. People don’t want to put in the work.

Building these businesses online actually takes longer than building them out here in the physical world. And I can prove it to you. You can start a service business this week; cutting grass, painting, cleaning windows, taking care of kids, running errands, fixing stuff, and repairing iPhones. With the right marketing and hustle, you can really make a livable income or at least half the money you need to live in a few weeks or a month.

This channel, when I started it; it took four months of hard work to start making money. I had money in the bank. I didn’t have a car payment. I had the time. I wasn’t sleeping on someone’s sofa or anything like that. It still took me four months of 8, 12, 16-hour days to get to the point where I was making some money.

Now if you’ve got 100K in the bank and you want to come online and do some stuff, you blow up pretty quickly since you can afford paid traffic.

But if you are Broke Dick Danny and Penniless Priscilla and don’t have any money, it’s going to take a lot longer and be a lot harder.

With the online world, there are so many people that want your money. I’ve been straight up from the beginning. Hustler’s Kung Fu is about getting money. I want you to buy courses. I want you to be happy. And, yes. I am going to charge for that.

Let’s talk about hiring and putting together a team. It’s a process. The more carbon-based life forms you put into the mix; the more interesting things become, the more complex, and the harder they become.

Just so much change has happened and people are embracing the change. But, there are also a lot of other things that you should not embrace, like….

#1 – You are going to make $100,000 in six weeks. I’m going to tell you something. A lot of that shit is not going to work. Right now, I am helping a client do an ecommerce site. We’ve got a paid traffic guy. It’s going to take 60 to 90 days to dial in the keywords to test ads while spending a lot of fucking money.

When you tell someone about the expense, they don’t believe you. We’re talking about 30K or as much as 60K.

You have to test for every product in your ecommerce store. If you have 1000 items in your ecommerce store, you are going to do an ad test for each and every item. We have a person doing that full-time, and it’s going to take 60 to 90 days.

That’s the truth about starting a business.

If this shit was easy, everybody would be rich. Most of the people in this country are poor, or close to it. Thirty to forty percent of millennials still live with their parents. Seventy percent of the people in this country make less than 40K per year.

Yesterday I had to fire three people. The takeaway from that is Glendon does not know how to fucking hire anyone. I’ve hired five people and I’ve had to fire three. There’s something wrong. The new thing is: I’m not even in the first interview. I’ve got Valencia and my boy who is a consultant doing the interviews. I’m pulling myself out of the process because it’s been 10 years since I’ve had to hire people.

There’s a lot of people right now that have great ideas, great concepts. The reason their businesses aren’t working is because they refuse to see the blind spots.

I had this grand idea of having maybe three people work in my basement. People were like…”That’s Freddy Kreugerish. That’s Hannibal Lechterish. That’s crazy. Someone’s going to do something to me.”

With the three people I had to fire, they all worked from home. Everybody can’t work from home. I can do it. But, I’ve been doing it for a long time. Everybody can’t deal with that level of freedom or responsibility.

I am skewing older now. You can’t put that in the ads. All of the folks who have been working now, they’re older.

For the new folks that are coming in, there are set office hours. There will be different expectations. There are going to be goals.

Starting a business is getting harder. We are getting many entrepreneurs out of necessity.

The Secret Element to Becoming a Millionaire – Hire, Hire, Hire

The Secret Element to Becoming a Millionaire – Hire, Hire, Hire

If you don’t want to read it, you can watch this video.

How do you hire your first employee? Everybody seems to have a problem with hiring and how to do it. Who should I hire? Who shouldn’t I hire? So, we’re going to start with employees first.

This isn’t some Bernie Sanders, rah rah stuff. Since it’s incumbent on organic capital, it’s going to top out pretty quick.

Alright. Let’s hire that first employee. This is something I’m going through with five clients right now and it’s a struggle because people are afraid. I, myself have an ad up on Craigslist looking for an employee. I’ll probably do a brief video and share what it looks like.

But, essentially, you have to forget about “you.” When you’re motivated by pain and motivated by hustle and by being broke, that’s a lot of energy and it can take you far. But, you’re not going to maintain it or keep it with that same mindset.

You’re going to have to go from ignition to manager and that’s a hard journey that most people won’t make.

You’re going to have to hire somebody. It is cool, because you own the asset. Don’t worry about it. You have to think of the employee first and this is why. Your employees are your bridge between your customers and you. Now I have one really good employee who is a bridge for me to a certain segment of customers and she does a good job. Now I am looking for three more people to do something similar.

Now I am going to take you through my hiring process on the surface here on YouTube. For those in premium sellers, I’m going to show you exactly what I’m doing. You’ll get to see the interviews. I’m letting people know that part of the process is you’ve got to be on camera. I had that strange email from someone who didn’t even read the instructions and was like…” I don’t want to be on camera.

That’s part of the job just to show you what comprehension skills are like these days.

Hiring is rough. It’s also a skill set. I’ll admit I’m rusty because I haven’t had to do it in a long time. The longer you avoid it, the longer you’re going to have to stay in a suck ass state. We’re going to give you Ed. Ed has a company. Ed has a job. Ed wants to leave his job and work for his company. That’s the dream.

You are going to be better off working for the man until you become the man. What I mean by that is, if you can stick it out with your job while you build your asset, that is the way to go. You should not leave your job until you your job is costing you money because you’re not there at the business. I would say that is the only time you should leave your job voluntarily.

With that said, you have a job to support you and yours and pay your bills. You keep that job to fund your lifestyle. Then as soon as you have cash flow to hire someone, that’s when you do it.

We made our first hire in the storage auction business in the second year. Looking back, we should have hired somebody the second or third month. But once again, I was a little shell shocked.

Hiring somebody is really important and a big part of scaling up your business, of building something durable.

Even though Ed wants to leave his job, he is being shortsighted.

In that second year when we hired employees in our second year, it immediately lightened up the load. We were able to make more money because we were able to leverage time. Instead of two people doing tasks, we had 12 people doing tasks.

Employees buy you more time. You can’t buy it any other way. Except, maybe for using automation. You want to get in the habit of leveraging your time as soon as possible.

What happens to a lot of solopreneurs is they don’t want to hire anyone. They get stuck. They get trapped in their job they created for themselves. They have customers that only want to work with them personally. They can’t take a vacation or the minute they stop working, the money stops. They’re building traps. It looks good and it feels good because there is a level of emancipation. But the situation leads to burnout, disillusionment and a lot of bad things.

You have to hire someone. The sooner you hire someone and learn how to hire and learn how to teach SOPs and protocols, the stronger and more powerful your business will be.

I will show you when I make that hire. The folks that go through the Income Sandbox and Hustler’s Kung Fu DOJO, they’re going to get an account manager. People will pay a premium to pay for a real person. They’ll pay a premium to have someone pick up the phone and call them back.

That’s going to be the reason I am hiring. I already know where the pain points are. I was never going to get back to this position because I was in a different spot. I was never going to do this stuff again, but life changed. I got a brand-new bag so to speak and decided to go back into it to make it happen and to build an agency.

When you hire someone, you have to commit to the process. The money is in solving problems. When you hire somebody you solve your problem and their problem. The more people you hire, the more problems you solve. The more problems you solve, the more money you make.

I know I might have to make two or three hires to get the person I want.

Once you get people, your business is going to explode if you continue to push. You need to get into the hiring and training mode as soon as possible.
