Let’s talk about YouTube money. The money you can make with YouTube can be nothing or it can be tremendous. With YouTube, you’re looking at six months to a year of a lot of work before you make much money. Sure, there some are exceptions to this.
If you want durable money that will last, there are certain ways you have to build the channel. There are certain things you have to do. You get people who are in a big hurry. I understand that, but it takes time to build a channel.
If you’re a brand-new YouTuber and you’re in a boring niche, you’re not going to make any money from AdSense. If you’re in a niche where people will pay money for services or products, you could probably make money your first week on YouTube. You need to be selling something and presenting something. If you want to make money fast, you have to create a channel that sells something.
As far as AdSense money is concerned, I don’t care if you have a video that goes viral the first day, you’re not getting that check for 60 days. It’s not happening. There is a built-in delay.
So, how do you build a channel that makes you money quickly? First of all, you start looking for trends. Let’s just say you want to make some AdSense money and you don’t care about selling products. You would go to whatever’s hot and talk about it. You would use the relevant keywords. When Donald Trump makes news, you would key up Donald Trump. You put that type of news out there on a consistent basis. That’s just one way to make money.
The first path to making money is to go on YouTube and make videos. That’s a problem for many people. I was amazed at how many people had an issue with it. It was really shocking. It became pretty interesting because you are who you are. When you are walking in public, a bunch of people see you. So, what’s the difference with coming online?
Yes, you will be judged. People will talk about you. You’ve got these things going on that are a little crazy.
Let me tell you about what happened to me in 2010, 2011, and 2012. I had people who would follow me and stalk me. They would harass people who left good comments on my videos. That’s the type of fuckery going on. What’s sad about that is if they had worked that hard on their businesses they would probably be millionaires right now.
If you’re planning on starting a YouTube channel, just know that if you’re good, you will get haters. If you’re doing something that will make a difference, you will get haters. If you’re too damn happy while you are making your video, you will get haters. It’s just part of the landscape.
You can’t let the haters stop you from putting your videos out there and making some money. YouTube is the best thing going in the world.
Personally, I don’t make much money on AdSense. I use it for advertising money. That amount of money is not really exciting to me. If you’re going to make money with AdSense, you’re going to need a great deal of variety or something that pulls people in. It has to be super exciting or important.
You can make a lot of money with AdSense, but it’s challenging. If you have a fuckery channel with people gossiping about celebrities or farting or running into walls, those channels can make a lot of AdSense money because they get a lot of views.
Let’s discuss the idea of giving away free information. It is tripping up some people. One of the best decisions I made in 2009 when I got started on YouTube was to be straightforward with my audience that I was there to sell them something. I got a lot of hate. I had people stalking me. One little bitch said I should give my stuff away for free. He was trying to tell me what I needed to do with my intellectual property. I just promptly said, “fuck you” and moved on.
Giving stuff away for free has not been a good tactic for me. That may work for some people. What has worked better for me is giving people a lot of value for an economical price. That’s what I do.
If you have any ambitions about making money on your YouTube channel, be very careful of how you present yourself. Be very careful about what you talk about. If you get to the point where you are giving away your best information for free, there’s a new breed of person out there that will take your information and make money with it, then hate you if you ever try to charge.
They will stalk you and talk about you. They will cause problems for your channel. They will flag you because they believe all of your information should be free.
I’m going to tell you something. You can get an insane amount of traffic on Tumblr if you have a plan. That is definitely a place where you can make some money. Instagram is another online way you can make money. Definitely. If you dedicate yourself to these platforms, you can make money. There are some companies that don’t use advertising because they are killing it on social media.
If you own your platform, you can make money. Find a platform that you like and that suits your personality. You can make money on YouTube. You can make money on Facebook.
Let’s get back to talking about free information. When you give away free information, you set yourself up to become troll bait if you ever decide to charge for it. Start charging as soon as possible. Go out and build a funnel. You can get sales the first week or the first month. One sale that first month is a win because that is something you can build on.
