I saved 1.2 million dollars by using YouTube. I got an email from someone who claimed that the $1.2 million figure was grossly inflated. Here’s the math. There are 1,050 videos on this channel as of the making of this video and they would cost $1500 to $2000 to make if I had to hire someone, and that’s on the cheap. So, when I did the math, $1.2 million is the figure I came up with. When I did the math, it blew my mind.
The reason I am doing this video is because many people are afraid to do something different or new. I started on YouTube, August 6, 2009. I didn’t know what I was doing. I just decided to jump into the water. The water was murky. My first videos were made with a Sony Cyber shot camera with standard definition video. It worked. Some of those videos had 10K, 20K or 30K views.
Here’s just a quick tip. Audio is more important than video unless it is a silent film. I learned that in a video course I took.
What this channel has earned me is the opportunity to be on a reality show. The pilot didn’t work out, but the experience was awesome. I made some great friends and connections. That led to a consulting opportunity, books and speaking engagements and all types of things. So many things came from this channel which saved me $1.2 million.
I keep hammering on that number for a reason. It’s not what you think. You can take advantage of even better opportunities today. Many people are waiting for that magical moment when everything aligns and the world is right.
My life didn’t pan out that way. I knew I had to do some shit immediately. It became a habit. Whenever I have a wild ass scheme, I’ll just go ahead and put it out there. So many things fall flat. They do.
People laugh and they point. I get embarrassed and my face turns red. Then I move on. I have really learned that experimentation and exploration equals adaptation.
I didn’t like making videos in the beginning. I really, really didn’t like it. I had to amp myself up to get in the mood. Then something happened. I started to become good at it. I wouldn’t say that I’m great at it. I have gotten good at making videos and that gives me a base to build from.
The benefit from doing this is awe-inspiring. I’ve said a few things here and there about YouTube. YouTube is fucking awesome. You can create a video that can be seen around the world. For me, that creates childlike awe.
I have some people in my groups from foreign countries. I really appreciate that. I’ve got people all over the world watching those videos. A lot of these people have been in contact with me and leave me tips. They drop all kinds of knowledge and it’s a wonderful, wonderful world.
One day I just sat down and decided to write a book. More importantly, I decided to finish writing the book. What I want to get across to you is to not start stuff and then not finish it.
It may take you longer than expected. But don’t start shit if you aren’t going to finish it. What I’ve learned from years on YouTube is that mistakes don’t kill you. Bad videos don’t kill you. Crummy headlines don’t kill you. What kills you is stopping.

When you are ass out, and it happens to everyone at some point, then your family is going to fuck you. Your wife is going to fuck you. Your husband is going to fuck you and society is going to fuck you.
Something is going to happen. It is not a question of if, but a question of when. Typically, when these things happen, people get knocked off kilter. You have to sit back and reassess, which is a normal part of dealing with personal trauma. But some people never get back on that horse again.
What I am telling you is that as long as no one chopped off your feet or messed up your brain, you have a shot. Many people will not take that shot. They are afraid and won’t risk failing and being embarrassed.
When you really want to do something, you can be blown away by results. I am in the infancy of this business. It is just getting started. I wonder where I will be in 20 or 30 years. What will I accomplish? That’s what I think about. I can take it to a higher level.
But, you can’t take it to a higher level until you get started. That’s the deal. You have to get started. You have to take your chances.
Do your own due diligence for your business. Don’t listen to everyone. Some things will work that will surprise you. Do what you have to do so you can have the life you want. Take chances even if you take flack for it.
